Who are our free agents?

Who is eligible for a mid-season extension?

Who is restricted and unrestricted?

They must keep Grant, Hart and Winslow.

Jerami Grant, Justice Winslow, and Drew Eubanks are free agents after this season.

Grant is eligible for a mid season extension.

Josh Hart has a players option

Brown, Watford, and Walker are all unguaranteed.

I remember when ppl wanted/talked about trading Hart... he has been & will be vital to W's/our success.
I think most people who think Hart gets dealt don't want him to leave but understand that he is going to get a crap-ton of money and we may not be able to afford him plus Shae can take his spot at a fraction of the price.

I still hope we keep him but I have a hard time seeing us paying all these guys so wouldn't be surprised if POR deals him.

I am equal to, or the biggest Sharpe fan on the board, and ill be the first to say there is no way(currently) Sharpe can fill Harts shoes. The way Hart pushes the ball, there isn't anyone on the roster who can do that. when he pushes ahead of Ant and Dame for them to trail?Thats absolutely lethal. I dont think Sharpe can push like that.

I don't trust the Vulcans, at all, to agree to a process that adds much future tax

that said, if Cronin somehow keeps Portland under the tax line this year (looks like they are 67K under the line right now), I'm pretty sure their repeater-tax clock does a re-set to zero. Meaning they could theoretically spend the next 3 seasons over the tax line without paying repeater tax. And the following season would be the free agency seasons of Ant and Nurk when their current contracts have ended

in other words, it could be that the notion Portland can't afford to pay Hart his market value may be false

Bruh I trust Hart.

I don't trust shaedon. You keep Hart, you teach shaedon. He's still years away to get to where Hart is, and that's okay.

Eventually though, I believe we'll trust Shaedon too:cheers:

Never said we wouldnt. It'd just be dumb to give him that much responsibility so soon when we have a great person for that already.

You described me perfectly. I don't want him to get traded, but I still expect him to.

If the Blazers are winning, Hart is starting and playing well I highly doubt he is traded. He won't have a ton of trade value, as a team acquiring him would likely also be concerned of having to overpay him in the summer to resign him. Maybe he could get an end of the 1st round pick or good second round pick. But at that point doesn't Portland just keep him and risk him resigning or leaving for nothing?

Now if the Blazers nosedive and are in the lottery sure flip him for an asset and tank. But that wouldn't be limited to Hart.

Assuming the Blazers are competitive; this is an issue for the offseason. Only decision in season could be extending Grant. Blazers can review all their options in the summer, dumping Nurk/GP2, letting Hart walk or resign, etc.

The Blazers can get under the tax this season easily.

So you think the Blazers need to trade Hart now because it would be easier for them to then get under the tax at the February 2024 trade deadline?

I think we made the Clipper trade, to dump their salaries. I think we made the Pelican trade because we liked Hart and wanted to get Simons more minutes. I would be surprised if we trade Hart unless it is a no-brainer upgrade for a big.

Agreed on the Clipper trade. I think the CJ trade was a combination of getting off his salary (knowing he'd want an extension), that it was time to breakup the Dame/CJ backcourt, and they felt the Hart + Grant addition was enough in return.

I think Hart is likely to be traded (unless we're a top 5 team) because the team is investing in Sheadon/Nas long term and the roster is so imbalanced. Hart should have a ton of value to the right team. I think we only hold on to Hart if we think we can win a playoff series this year.

I'm a huge Hart fan, so if we trade him, that will be a bummer.

Hart should have more value this season than Feb 2024.

I agree. I’d rather look to deal Ant+ For a needle moving SF. Start Heart or Sharpe when he’s ready at the 2.

Portland is currently sitting at ~$60k UNDER the tax line right now.

What kind of payday do you think Hary will get? I would be against letting him go. What is he 26?? No way do you let him walk. I dont see him as the same as Shaedon. Hart is an emotional leader out there and Shae is mich more reserved. Hart does the gritty stuff that I dont know if Shae will do.

but you're not strictly replacing hart with shaedon. it's shaedon + GP2 +nas, who are now all under long term contracts. josh has become my favorite non-dame blazer, but unfortunately i think the writing is on the wall for his eventual departure.

dame stanning hard for him is something consider, though. as far as a contract, i see him being worth 15-20 mil/yr easily.

Sharpe will be a needle-moving SF after he gains another 10 lbs. And he won't be 20 until next June so he will fill out a bit. If you move Ant, you move him for a really good big. Because we have multiple young PFs behind Grant who could turn out to be good like Walker and Watford and hell maybe even Brown with the way he is improving.

But why move Ant? He is only one of 2 players on the team who can light it now. (add Sharpe in another year) We need at least 3

There are no bigs I’d trade Ant for, outside of the ones that wouldn’t be available in trade like Embiid, Jokic, etc. Nowadays, it seems like you just need guys that are ‘big enough’ not necessarily guys that are big.

Whatever we can get for Ant now, bet that we’ll be worth considerably MORE in a year or two if we really did need to trade him. Ant will get to a point where he will command multiple 1sts, I just want to see how this team plays when he’s awakened first before ever contemplating Ant trades.

I wouldn't move anyone if this team continues on. No reason to.

You have to pay to win. No way Chauncey or Dame lets go of Hart without a fight. Ain't gonna happen.
I think we could definitely move on from Winslow. Winslow is $4m worth of salary, he combined with some 2nds can get at least a guy that is like him but taller.

Backup C continues to be my only worry for this team, and I’m trading Winslow before any of our young guys.

I’m starting to buy into Hart becoming our Draymond by the game. Honestly, if we could settle on 3 yrs/$65m next summer, I wouldn’t even be mad at that. It would put him at 30-31 with another opportunity to get a big contract in 2026. And with the way he plays, he’s always going to be an attractive expiring contract.

This would require Jody being ok being a longer term tax team. Nothing in her time has shown she's willing to do that.

Not sure a whole bunch of changes could or even should occur at this point. I mean they are UNDEFEATED WooHoo!

If that’s the case, we can’t just let him walk for nothing. Towards the deadline, if he keeps this up, he’ll show he’s either too valuable to not be on this team long-term, or be so valuable other teams will offer more for him at the deadline, or both.
