what would it take for you guys to get a credential?

@SlyPokerDog might be able to chime in on this one but I remember the Blazers changed their view on internet journalists a while back. They gave Sly a pass, but no access for interviews and such. They also took away Blazers Edge (not sure if they got it back or not.)

Blazers used to love internet writers but the people in charge of their media relations are..... not as receptive now.

Not sure, I believe Marang got one but that's probably because of 1080, not Jacked Ramsays.
just some unsolicited advice, please try to do whatever it takes to get that. Gaping hole in the media that covers this team. And given your audience and the engagement you guys get here and on other platforms, there is a pressing need for coverage that goes beyond the superficial.

Jerami doesn't have a whole lot to say.
Dealing with the press isn't for everyone. And sometimes their questions don't require a huge answer. From what i gathered, that last question was kind of like a backhanded one. It seemed he was asked what it was going to be like to be used more like he was in his early days. I don't think he appreciated it. He's a different player now, maturity wise. Just not a necessary question. I missed some of the presser, but how 'bout, "what do you think your game brings to the Blazers". Not a "Hey, your not in Detroit, get ready to be an also ran on offense" . Did i hear that last question wrong. Because it seemed like it frustrated Jerami a little bit, and he responded with a short and sweet answer.

It's pretty hard to get a full access credential these days.

Yeah, what's he supposed to say. "I'm mad I'm not the #1 option anymore!" No one would say that.

Considering how shit the Blazers reporters are at the job, you’d think it would be easier to get a credential.

Like 90% of the time breaking news about the blazers is reported by someone other than a blazers journalist. Kinda crazy.

I believe they eased it a little bit with the new president and GM.

But since we were the outliers critical of Stotts before hardly anyone else was, we're not very well thought of by the people who make those decisions. Our views on Cronin probably won't help either.

The guys who run their media relations look down on web guys pretty hard. It's pretty much why I stopped covering the team. I had spent a few years building a really good relationship with the team and then in one summer they all got fired. I didn't feel like starting over from scratch with some dudes who clearly thought less of internet writers.

It's exactly how they want it.

@hoopsjock maybe you guys can collaborate/feed questions to someone who already has credentials, and is more informed than the general media.

mike richman is a good guy in my mind, and seems humble enough to acknowledge where he's strong/weak and speaks about more nuanced stuff.

i dunno how it could work to collab with Locked On, but something to consider.

I'd say like 99% of the time breaking news from ALL teams comes from someone other than local journalists. Not really crazy at all.

I would've just asked something like...

Could you please touch a little bit on how you're going to be approaching the cap situation the rest of the year? Did you stretch Bledsoe's dead money? Are you trying to keep staying under the tax an option?

You just described the opposite of Mike Richman, ha ha. He often whines about "lesser" media and how he hates people who pretend to be reporters/journalists.

Which is funny because it's not hard to be a reporter/journalist.

It's hard to be a GOOD reporter/journalist, and most of these fools are not good.

Unique? Maybe. I saw it and the first thing that popped in my head is a Keebler Elf. He can pull it off tho, which not everyone can, so good for him.
he was on catwalks at fashion shows in Paris a few weeks ago, so maybe he's onto something. i think playing with Westbrook for a few years really influenced his style (or f-ed it up....)

really? nvm then.
Yeah, after one of my articles on Blazers Uprise he went on a rant about how if you're not physically at a press conference, you shouldn't be allowed to use anything that's said in an article. Real elitist crap. It's like, the Blazers post the pressers publicly. Their answers aren't your rights.

His delivery on his podcast is seriously like nails on a chock board. He should stick to writing.

glad my gut was right about Richman. I used to follow him on twitter and he would constantly subtweet people and it was annoying as fuck, so I just unfollowed.

It's the same in Football. But when a local guy like Adam Schefter was in Denver, and gets close to people, in & around, the organization, he does get stuff that a local reporter doesn't normally. Then he gets offered Nat'l gigs. In the NBA, It's a few well connected guys, like Woj, Windy, Spears, Shams, & Haynes.

I would like to think if I was in a position like that, I would help people like me improve their writing or encourage them, instead of saying they shouldn't be allowed to do it.

I know it's because people think we're assholes (I'm really not in real life, ha ha), but so many people feel threatened by Torey and I. There's also a bit of jealousy as well. I'd still be cool with Mike if he wanted to collab.

that's disappointing to hear.

i dunno man. if i was a STH and spending tens of thousands of dollars a year on this team, I'd want more info on the detailed vision of the franchise than basic platitudes like "we value heart." Or like why should i bother spending my hard earned cash for a team that wants to pinch pennies to get a profit-sharing payment instead of an extra 5 wins?

maybe it's just me. :dunno:
