I meant to post this last week;

Do you know what happened 165 years ago ? (on September 9, 1850 )

California became a state!

The people had no electricity, the state had no money and almost everyone spoke Spanish. There were gunfights in the streets.

So basically , NOTHING has changed except back then the women
had real breasts and the men didn't hold hands.

And that, my friends, is your history lesson for today.

LOL! Awesome!

Oldie: where women are women & half the men think they are.

Jokes aside though I enjoyed my times in So Cal, no time for no cal

And before Rob has a chance to say it, I witnessed all of those things.

One August night at the Fort Ord Night Fire Range the temperature went down to 38 degrees. Very erratic climate up there to include The Presidio and Monterrey. Spent time in San Francisco, rolled through Oregon, spent time in Puyallup Washington. Beautiful country but it takes a lot of rain to keep all that green. Vancouver is the one I missed, everyone I knew who went up there had great things to say.

To top it all off, Hispanics/Mexicans, still think and act as if-this is their land, .....

I often wish this were still the Old West, ..... but CCW's permits are impossible to get....

Latinos make up for 48% of So. Cal's Population; (38% State Wide).

With 38 Million heads in Caly, 1 out of 8 people reside in this Shit Hole of a State; and half of those 1 in 8, are Mexicans,.....

Approximately 5 Million Illegals live in Caly and AZ, (combined)........

***(Note:) One reason I am surprised Rick didn't opt to move to the infamous totally Gay Castro District of Frisco.....

Ah, 59, put that wish in Your Bucket List, the Great Northwest, Oregon, Washington, Vancouver, ten shades of green, with plenty of Forests and Mountains. It blew my mind, my 1st time riding to Seattle as a kid, to see real Totem Poles on the outskirts, entering, and leaving every little town, (which all have breweries). Some of those Totem Poles date way back prior to the American-Indian Wars, carved by the Nez Perce Tribe,......

Northern Caly should be an entirely separate state, from Mt. Shasta North, Humboldt, Mendocino greeno......In fact a small section of N. CA, extending into southern Oregon, did petition Congress to secede into its own state. Unfortunately, the very day Congress was to vote on this issue, was Dec. 7th, 1941. The vote was thrown by the wayside as Congress had Pearl Harbor to deal with.....

The Ferry Rides from Seattle to Bremerton Island, and Vancouver are astounding Sites. Plenty of heavy forested Islands, with gorgeous homes, throughout those waterways.....

The USS Missouri was decommissioned to Bremerton Island, at that time, which one could board that epic ship.....
NTM- The Salmon, Trout, even Halibut fishing are 2nd only too Alaska....

and- Oregon's beaches are incredible, with half being State or Natl. Parks. Very similar to Georgia's Southern Coastline, .....

not sure if you remember, my maternal Grandparents lived in Seattle in the late 60s-70s (Boeing employees), so I got to spend my summers up there.......

Rode the Pacific Coast Starlight Train up and down the Coast from San Diego to Tacoma to a few destination in between. When people here on the East Coast talk mountains its really hills compared to the real mountains out in the west.

...you rode the train from SD to Tacoma ?...holy crap. what a trip.

On that particular run I went from Tacoma, to San Diego, back to LA then on to Jacksonville Florida. Had a blast, would have gone on to Merritt Island by rail but Seaboard was on strike. Rode from San Diego to Chicago to Worcester Mass when I went to AIT. Made trips on the Eastern seaboard covering places from Boston to Lake Worth, Florida. Love trains, had an Uncle who was a conductor on the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore lines which got me runs from Philly to Cape May NJ. Really disappointed that this country did not get into the high speed rail.

This is what YF is talking about, here's a great view of Mt. Whitney from the town of Bishop, to this day still my favorite hang out and fishing holes........

Michael, did the train you took, take the Pacific Coast rail-lines, thru Big Sur, et al.?????

These Pics were taken of the Pacific Train line, or from it, but not by me, unfortunately........

The State of Caly, has been petitioning the State Legislature, Governor, to build High Speed Train Lines, since the 80s......One from LA to Vegas, another line right thru the Mojave North........

The amounts of $$$ to build such, have often been said by anti-pundits to costs in excess of multi-billions of bucks. The B1-Bomber Hangars, built by Rockwell and Reagan, just for those bombers, was transitioned into a Japanese Owned High Speed Rail Car Manufacturer.

the State of Caly, shot the proposals down, in the last vote, taken earlier this year. The high speed rail cars are being built here locally, yet there will be no tracks or high speed train in this fkn state,........

This state is ensuring lazy fks who can work, get paid their self entitlements, rather than proceed with Infrastructure, which would bring much needed jobs. A paradox of sorts, a conundrum, which is one of many reasons this state, is not worth a shit, Politically, and it hasn't been, damn near as long as I can recall, altho' the era of 70-86 made Caly a booming state.

Of 5 Million Aerospace Jobs lost in this Nation, after the B1-Bs were delivered, this state lost the brunt of Aero Workers, 2.5 Mil of those 5 Mil jobs, were lost right here in So. Cal. NTM- Ford and GM leaving the state in the early 80s as well.laying off permanently and re-training people for other lower paying jobs, fkn typical for Caly,

Let's all be Burger Flippers........

Ron and Rob, surprised you two are organizing the cannibacation CO to WA. I see an Indian panhead and an old ducati.....

...Jacksonville, me and Mom and Dad are all from there (Ft George Island)...I've been threatening a pilgrimage to Massachusetts since I was a teenager...simply must go there before I die.

New England particularly Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont in the fall are really nice climate wise, warm days, cool nights, beautiful when the foliage changes as well. Hated the winters up there though. And of course you have to make that trip to Fenway to see the local team play ball.

ssshhhhh, ........ah fk it, I do have my license, got it the day I retired....

You indeed have the talents of your Father, then some; (when it comes to sniffing out the real issues, flying under the radar)....

Damn, I thought we were in stealth mode....

Indian flatheads, Harley Knuckleheads, Panheads, Ducati's and Triumphs, (antique Triumphs & 90s on as well); a Man after my own soul......

I can see Thoreau/Emerson connections. HDT lost me and transcending beyond hunting for meat.
...I was heading down the wrong road...Thoreau forever changed me.

.....^^^

Emerson forever changed me, Thoreau too, 2 of America's greatest talents with mind, and pen........

Eihei Dogen will always mystify me........."what is the sound of one hand clapping?"

One cannot bleed out the Canuck in a FC. Thus Kerouac has always tugged on my heart strings as well, ie, Desolation Angels.....
