How do you know what the record is? All I said was, people were murdered, but as long as he gets to keep his rights. Peoples rights to bare arms is not more important than peoples rights to LIVE.
 
To me it’s all pretty silly.
We tried open carry guns on our hips and no real laws about enforcement. It didn’t work. Pretty much every town became slaughtering zones for even a simple argument over cards or a girl at the bar.
They had to change the way guns were policed because way too many innocent bystanders were getting killed as well as it was very tough to place blame or responsibility.
Nobody anywhere has ever wanted to take away the right to bear arms. They just want less guns on the streets and out of the hands of people who kill without regard to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The argument that it’s our right to have and carry a gun has been put to shame so many times it’s unbelievable to me we have to have these conversations any longer. If you cannot see it’s driven by greed and asinine principles then I simply assume you don’t want to listen to reason or look at the history and numbers.
I have guns. I know how to use them. I have never felt I needed to carry one to feel safe except when I was in the military and I was in a combat zone.
I keep my guns because I can. I choose to be responsible with my guns because it’s the law. I support those laws wholeheartedly.

Well if I have factual information which refutes a claim I will state it so that both sides are represented.

There is no evidence to suggest there is any political will to enable dangerous people the right to access guns.

It's disingenuous to imply that will exists, so I called it out. Things like these muddy the water and prevent actual progress.

This is what happens when you have weak or no gun laws. This is going to happen in droves in states that are getting rid of background checks, registrations, and permits.

Nobody is opposed to removing the rights of people who would kill without regard for life.

They are opposed to every American being subjected to increased restrictions, or a database which would allow bad actors to easily identify and locate gun owners.

There are solutions which would address all these concerns, but nobody in power is actuality interested in solutions. They are interested in the debate and the distraction and the increased campaign contributions that go along with it.

Arkansas is one of the states that doesn't require a background check or permit to buy a gun because Republicans who are charge there won't put that in place. That is political will to put guns in the hands of bad people.

Would background checks have prevented this? I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that, but I suppose it's possible.

In which case this could happen anywhere. And it does... Even in cities and states with very strict gun laws.

Quite possibly yes. It could have stopped this guy from getting a gun and many like him. Background checks can save lives.

Does the shooter have any priors? How would a background check have stopped him from getting a gun?
 
The supposed gun control debate is and has always been a moot point.

America was created specifically as a country that guarantees the total freedom to say anything you want anywhere, carry any weapon you want anywhere, travel freely anywhere, refuse any "medical" or investigative procedures you want to refuse...
Read The Bill of Rights. Government cannot enact/enforce anything at all that weakens these inalienable rights for any reason at any time. Period. To do so is treason, which automatically eliminates any claim to government office, rank or position of authority.

Constitutional facts matter.

Yes.

In that hypothetical, there's no harm, no foul. Even in far left Oregon it's not a crime to say you are going to harm someone, otherwise there'd be no Democrats walking free.

Toddlers can kick some ass. Just read an article recently about a preschool kid who sent a teacher to the hospital.

It's a crime to walk into a school with a gun in Oregon and say you are going to shoot someone. The police would be called and you would be escorted to jail, do not pass go, or at least to a mental institution. There is harm and there is foul in it.

That's the only thing about being a hero in that situation. You disarm the gunman and hold onto the gun because you don't want him to get back ahold of it. Then the police arrive and mistake you for the gunman and shoot you. That makes it tough to want to act in those situations. But, I guess you stopped him from shooting people and now get to sue the city and get rich.
