There are and will always be moments in time and history that can only be explained through image. Words can not express what is happening.

So now we want to let people say all the hateful shit they want on the internet but we can't see the direct result of those words?

What's the difference between that photo and this one?

Execution_of_Nguyen_Van_Lem.jpg

it wasn't a shot of that guys brains being splattered around.
I remember when Mt St Helens erupted and the outrage over the Oregonian publishing this picture of a dead child.

Sometimes a story can not be told in words alone, sometimes to give the full scope of what happened you have to use other means.

And 18yr old hunted down and killed innocent people today only based on their race. This story needs to be told in all the means available.

You can show the story without showing her brains being sprayed out. Remember the Boston Bombing? We knew it was horrific, but didn't need people to start posting pictures of peoples legs being blown off, or bones sticking out of what was left of their legs.

I don't think we're saying don't post links to the pictures, but for gods sake, when you're scrolling down a thread and all the sudden you come to a picture of a womans brains being blown out..I'm just saying, use some decorum.

If the Boston Bombing happens multiple times a year across the country and nothing is done about it then pictures would need to be shown, IMO.

...I can't speak for everyone, but I'd prefer not be lumped into whatever this is. I simply think it more than appropriate to put an optional hidden spoiler graphic content warning type image here, especially with a photo of this nature. In no way am I trying to "erase" this type of content or condone what happened today, so please dont get it twisted. Carry on.

I posted a tweet and a picture and then left since my daughter's water line broke and I had to meet the plumber at her house. You and others posted about the pictures. I replied to the posts that were made when I got home. The "lumping" is my explanation of my own opinions but I didn't undo what a different mod did. It was easier to reply to the multiple posts who didn't like how I posted what I did instead of giving each person a personalized individual reply. I gave my opinion and still respected the opinions and requests of others. If you think I'm lumping or twisting then I apologize for that and in the future will try to remember that you would prefer a personalized reply.

Sometimes the way you respect the dead is by showing the atrocities that were done to them.

Would we be respecting those killed in concentration camps if we didn't show the horrors done to them or if we didn't show the pictures at all?

Fair enough. I totally respect and even agree in some sense with your take. I do. Just trying to have some respect.

This poor fucking kid. It's parents like this is how you end up with these shootings.

Carissa said of the frightening encounter: 'This kid comes to my door with a whip looking for my 9 year old daughter, then puts a big ass scratch on our Audi.

'The police came out and tells us, “it’ll work itself out since he moving soon”

'So when my husband got home, we went to talk to him about the damages done to our vehicle….The dad tells the son to say he’s not there. A couple minutes later he finally comes to the door with a gun! He almost shot himself and his daughter standing behind him smh'

Kaufman County Sheriff's Office backed up Carissa's version of events, and say the boy's dad - 39 year-old Bryan Thomas Brunson - did indeed fire a gun during a subsequent confrontation.

Kaufman County Sheriff's Office backed up Carissa's version of events, and say the boy's dad - 39 year-old Bryan Thomas Brunson - did indeed fire a gun during a subsequent confrontation.
An argument between the two soon escalated, cops say - with Brunson eventually producing the firearm, a .357 Magnum revolver. Cops say as the argument persisted, Brunson allegedly handled the handgun in a reckless manner, causing it to go off.

According to police, the bullet narrowly missed Brunson's daughter, who they say was standing behind her father during the encounter.

Brunson was subsequently arrested and booked on felony charges of deadly conduct, police told TMZ Saturday.

His son is a year too young to face any criminal charges.

Buffalo white supremacist, 18, threatened a school graduation shooting last year and was given psychiatric treatment - but still legally bought three guns: Classmates reveal he acted strangely, wore hazmat suit to school for a week and scared them with 'Hitler-esque' political views

  • Police suggested mental health evaluation and counseling
  • Classmates recall his 'Hitler-esque' political leanings during a political science exercise
  • Gendron wore a hazmat suit to school for the first week of his senior year to protect against Covid
  • In his 180-page manifesto refers to the paranoid white supremacist theory of 'white replacement'
  • He looks up to other racially-motivated spree killers like Dylan Roof who killed nine people in a black church in South Carolina
  • At least 10 people were killed and three were reported injured after a gunman opened fire inside a Buffalo supermarket on Saturday while livestreaming
  • Gendron had the n-word scrawled on his rifle, targeted a store in a predominantly black area and shot 11 black people, police said
  • Erie County District Attorney John Flynn charged him with one count of first degree murder
  • The suspect, filmed wearing a military uniform, has been taken into custody by the Buffalo Police Department and will be charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder as early as Saturday night
  • The suspect was reportedly wearing body armor as witnesses said they saw the man wearing a black helmet and carrying a rifle into the store

People like this shouldn't be able to buy guns. This is why we need better background checks.

New York State Police are about to be sued.

Republicans sure are quiet since this happened.

The constant dog whistling of the great replacement theory guised as “simple immigration policy” sure backfired horrifically :beatinto:

Or just mark his ID with a weapons restriction. So much simpler than some background check system that has to monitor every American who wants to buy a gun.

Nobody argues against monitoring criminals and the mentally unstable.

The only reason to push for background checks is that it's a wedge issue, or if you actually support governments tracking all of their citizens.

this kid had been flagged for social media terror threats before he legally bought a gun....he wasn't a criminal yet and I guess you could call angry white supremacists with agendas mentally ill but having not commited a crime nor been diagnosed as crazy....his anger lets him just slip through the cracks...I'd say the hundreds of insurrectionists on Jan 6 were a good example of dangerous behavior from people who have no problems attaining weapons and ammo.....until we call racism "mental illness" we're not addressing the problem at the root. As someone mentioned...this white kid killed 10 people without getting a scratch from the cops....if he'd been black....do you think he'd be alive today? Sets a real bad example for peace keeping and shows his buddies you can kill 10 people and survive in a grocery store. I have no empathy for him...

Yes, anybody who has been flagged for that kind of thing should definitely have their ID marked with a weapons restriction. That's what I'm saying.

And anybody who sells, lends, or rents a weapon to a person without a legal and unmarked ID should get their very own weapons restriction on their ID along with felony weapons charges (and whatever fine/jail time is determined appropriate), thereby preventing them from having access to weapons as well.

You make violent threats online? Boom. Restriction.

I also have zero sympathy for him.

My point is, nobody has a problem with restricting people like this, so that would be far easier to institute than nationwide background checks. Because so many people are opposed to healthy, law abiding citizens being restricted or entered into a database.
