Religion From the Rector at the St John's Episcopal Church in Washington DC

God has to appear somewhere in infinity. Now, infinity is too great for me to deal with so I'm going to have to leave it at that. But if you look at the good in life and let God into your heart and see the beauty in his teachings especially the ones concerning caring for the disadvantaged then you'll be swept over and find great happiness.

I am happy for you that you feel that way, but you can just as easily say that you look at all the horrors in the world and ask how can a god that is worth following allow it to happen?

Personally, I do not think that any god promoted by the common religions is one I believe in, I believe it is just a creation of men kind. Early men used the concept of god to explain what they could not understand - and from there all kinds of people ran with it - some of them with good intentions, others, not so much.

As long as it helps you and does not harm others - I say, good on you.

I already addressed your first two sentences.
As for the third sentence, I don't believe that God will punish those who don't understand. I guess I'm more inclusive that exclusive.
What brought me around was my childhood memories of all the good things our church stood for and the concept of infinity which I'm totally incapable of dealing with outside of Calculus.

I do. ALL Presidents and Government officials have their pasts, etc. I guess you're counting Trumps entire body of work as part of your opinion. That's entirely your option.

BTW, how are we reacting about the death of David Dorn?

and in typical trump spin support, "everyone else does it"

As for the police chief, how are you reacting to it as I have never seen you make a comment about it unless I missed it?

lol...this is funny to watch the "pigeon shitting all over the board and acting like he won the chess match."

Being an atheist, I don't give a damn if people pray or not. But Trump claims to be a super duper Christian. He didn't pray, didn't speak to clergy, didn't read comforting Bible verses, since he doesn't know any. Just held up Bible like a trophy.

Elizabeth Warren nailed it as usual when she said there were two photo ops. Bible waving to tell one part of his base their god will protect them from queers and feminists. And the image of cops beating up peaceful protesters to tell another part of his base he will use the full force of the government to protect white people against scary black and brown people.
