Oh please. No need to take out your frustrations on Duck fans.

You should check out Blazersedge. There is a writeup before the game talking about how comfortable and loose Brooks was during warmups. I don't think the crowd booing him was going to make a difference.

AC Green was just as much of a role player and Brooks is. They both started, neither of them were top options, and both of them contributed to some great memories to Oregon universities. It's not like either of those players were getting cheered after each made basket.

This comes across as a Beaver fan issue, not a Blazer issue.

Totally, but if I were a Beaver fan, I'd probably still be bitter about being clownstomped at home in the Civil War with the Rose Bowl on the line as well. GRRRRR, it's the Duck fans' fault Brooks played well! He got some cheers from some Duck fans! :biglaugh:

Interesting thread. 3 pages to discover that someone is mad they pissed away $300 for a lower bowl ticket to the game, with repeated jabs at fellow Blazer fans who are also Duck fans for simply applauding a player who meant a lot to the U of O program.

Stay classy. :devilwink:

I love the Ducks but neither Rick or Aaron got any love from me on this night.
They are the enemy, and you don't, just don't cheer for the opposition in the playoffs.
We boo'ed the hell out of Ariza and it got in his head.
The RG needs to be hostile in the playoffs, not happy go lucky.
Got a ton of respect for both guys off the court, but onces its game time, is "who the hell are you again?"

Yao got booed and didn't miss a shot. Karl Malone, Kobe, and Shaq all got booed and took it to us. Citing Trevor Ariza having a sub-par game as proof booing impacts players doesn't prove anything.

You guys think that Brooks was getting cheered all game or something, he wasn't.

It's a pathetic red herring. Applauding Brooks at the intro had literally nothing to do with how he played. It really just comes across as sour grapes. Houston beat the crap out of the Blazers. Period. Whining about fans seems petty.

It's nice to know that someone else here realizes that giving a hand to someone like Brooks, Adelman, AC Green, Brent Barry, etc is classy and doesn't hurt the Blazers chances of winning.

A friend of mine who is a Blazer fan played at OSU with Brent Barry and got tickets from Barry for the game last night. I imagine he even went out to dinner with him after the game. How Dare He!!! I'm going to call him and tell him that he is the reason the Blazers lost. :ohno:

Yeah, because those words are in one of my posts, "the reason the blazers lost is because..."

PG, you're hilarious.

I'm pretty sure "the reason the blazers lost" is because Houston shot 80% in the first quarter. That doesn't change the fact that fans shouldn't be cheering for the other team. Kobe played high school ball in Philly, yet that city boos him mercilessly when he comes to town.

If it doesn't impact the outcome of the game, why does it bother you? Does it ruin the experience for you? I can't imagine something so little really bothering you.

It was one of like five points in my post. You and a few others decided to debate it with me. I'm merely defending my position. :dunno:

Yes, it ruins the experience for me.

There's nothing you or PG can say to change out minds on this. Cheering for any member of the other team during a playoff game is RIDICULOUS. And this does not make us less "classy" than you. That is a fucking retarded thing to say. If any thing, you guys are bigger pussies. :) j/k

Superstars aren't generally bothered by crowds. True.

Is Aaron Brooks a superstar?

I think there's a lot of evidence, if only circumstantial, that role players and young players can underperform when they are singled out for ridicule by an opposing team's fans. Not everybody has the mental toughness of a Kobe Bryant.

How else do you explain home court advantage? Do you really think it only exists because players aren't sleeping in their own beds? Do you think players are lying when they say, "X arena is one of the toughest places in the league for a visitor."? I think a lot of what they mean is, "The fans there really get into the heads of some of our role players."

Was cheering for Aaron Brooks a deal breaker? I doubt it.

In the second quarter, Oden clearly had his man pinned behind him, yet Outlaw refused to pass the ball in for the easy dunk. Instead, he took a tough 20 footer and missed. Did that one shot lose us the game? I doubt that too. It doesn't absolve Outlaw of responsibility, though.

And it doesn't make it a good idea to cheer for an opposing player, regardless of the circumstances.

Hopefully the fans come tuesday night ready to scream at everybody in a Rockets jersey. Save "classy" for the regular season.

I would never cheer any Laker. I don't care if he's my brother. Or my brother's husband. Or my wife's brother. Or if he saved my life when I was drowning or saved Brandon Roy's life when he was drowning. I may love him off court but on court he's a Laker. Period.

I can see acknowledging Rick Adelman at a playoff game. After all, he coached a playoff run for this team. Not an ovation, just polite applause. Opponent players, no. No ovations.

As to who is louder. I was not there but have gone to lots of games in 3 sports including post season. In playoffs a lot of tix go to sponsors, A list, league and team officials, etc. They are not true fans, they are not the ones who have been there all year. And the only seats available to the truly manic fans are in the higher, or further back (depending on venue) sections. So yes they tend to be louder and more enthusiastic.

I once scored a prime seat for an A's playoff game, Rickey Henderson stole second, stole third, scored on a "sacrifice fly" that was barely more than a pop-up; no one else would have attempted to score that run. I was on my feet screaming and people were looking at me funny. One man even told me to pipe down. In Oakland, in the League Championship Series. It was like, who is this refugee from the bleachers? Then I sat in the bleachers and everyone was screaming.

But would you mail a Lakers fan cookies???? :devilwink:
