Okay. Being s fruit lover i had to think about a priority list.

If im eating it in a pie then i like Marionberry, blackberry, peach and apple.

If im putting fruit on my cereal, then It is rasberries and strawberries and bananas

I love those fruits in my oatmeal but I also love peaches in my oatmeal. I used to eat bananas in oatmeal but that's now been dropped out of medical necessity. I sometimes eat blueberries in my oatmeal because I've got to have a change of pace once in a while.
Apple pie has to be made with a tart apple. My favorite applesauce and apple pie apple is the gravenstein but I'll substitute granny smith if gravensteins aren't available. I've been told there are other great tart pie apples but I have no idea what they are.
Eating an apple out of hand is when I choose honey crisp or red delicious but they must be chilled. Funny, when I was a kid I ate a lot of fruit out of neighbors' fruit trees at room temperature and loved it but now I prefer it chilled.
I have heard that chilling does kill the ripening process. Still, I like it chilled, including tomatoes. I love a chilled tomato cut in half and seasoned with salt and pepper.

Its funny. Tomato is technically a fruit, but since it isnt sweet.....

I like all my fruit chilled too. though sometimes eating a nice juicy fresh peach cna be just fine not chilled. Bananas too. Everything else must be chilled though. And you are so right about the apples. Has to be a sour or tart type of apple for the pies. It makes the whipped cream that much better. lol.

Also, we learned a trick a couple years ago . When making pie, make sure to spread a little butter over the top of the crust. Just a bit. Not alot. It gives the crust a nice shiny look and a great taste. If you REALLY wanna go overt he top, after spreading the butter, thn sprinkle large granuled sugar on the top and then put it in the oven. Does wonders countering the tart apples.

I have a crab apple tree. It put out four apples last year. IF I can quadruple its output this year, I might make myself a crab apple pie. lol

Another fantastic combination - feta cheese crumbs on watermelon. That's how they eat it in Bulgaria - and it is fantastic.

Tomatoes can be sweet. The ones we grow ourselves are sweet. Try to buy Campari tomatoes if you want sweet ones.

You know, after I typed that, I realized I don't want them sweet. I cant stand sweet tomato sauce and what not. Fuck it. I just put Tomatoes back in the Veg Pile. LOL

Fine dining with hors d’oeuvres and appetizers are awesome. Regular dining just does'nt offer the exotics fine dining does.
Was at a wedding at Royal Oaks CC yesterday. Some of the appetizers were just AWESOME!!

Some exotic cracker with cubed apples and crushed walnuts with some freshet ta. I ate about 15 of those alone.........

I like fruit such as apple and pear combined with any kind of cheese and a very fine brandy. I usually buy a VVSOP Cognac which I usually get at the duty free store whenever I go abroad.

I like sweet tomatoes in a middle-eastern salad (because it works well against the salty taste of the olives) - but prefer non-sweet ones on a Burger.

Olives dont belong in salads. lol.

I love my Asian Chicken Salad with an apple or mango vinaigrette. That provides me the sweet I need in the salads.

The country of Greece, the cradle of western civilization - disagrees with you ;)

I know. Im in a hole on my own here. My wife loves them too. They stink, they are a gritty after taste with a metallic overtone. Ughh.

I can tolerate black olives and thats about it, but I avoid the olive station at the grocery stores like the plague.

And the kicker is I'm half Italian!!!! hahaha

I also like dried fruit except raisins.

Eat too many peaches off the tree, can have an unfortunate effect.

Yep, you grow addicted to them.

I love olives. I have to control my intake due to the salt.

Probably the biggest thing I miss from The Wet Side of Oregon is the fruit , especially when it was literally all around you.

Growing up in LO in our yard alone we had 3 kinds of apple trees, pears, peaches, filberts, and walnuts (until the huge tree came down during the Columbus Day storm). Every year we'd grow watermelon, pumpkin, cucumbers and tomatoes.

In the alley (neighbor's back yards) were cherries, plums, grapes, blackberries, blueberries and rhubarb.

And salmonberries in Tryon Creek.

There are some remnants still standing in LO but a drive through the old neighborhood reveals a tiny fraction of the bounty that grew back then.

So far over here we've got wild strawberries on their second year, peppers and tomatoes in our greenhouse, and I'm planning on transplanting some blackberries outside to see if they'll survive the winter.

I ate off every fruit tree in Oswego which is now called First Addition. If you had fruit trees, I ate off them.
I never ate salmon berries in the Tryon Creek area. I always thought they were poisonous. Loved seeing the trilliums, though. Ate trout caught out of the creek and my grandmother once pulled about a four pound steelhead out of the creek. That shocked a lot of us. Most of the fish I ate were fresh water perch caught in Oswego Lake near the railroad tracks. Never had good luck fishing sucker creek.
Speaking of plums and rhubarb, I only knew of that in my Aunt's house on fourth and "C which is now a park.
My grandmother had the most delicious figs I've ever eaten. She also had fabulous black caps.

I took cuttings of my father's fig tree and rooted them. In drought years not much crop but when we get rain I have bushels of figs the size of small pears.

You are lucky you left. All those fruits you mentioned are now members of MS-13 and are likely to kill you. Gang fruit is everywhere now and the city government does nothing.

Nope, you haven't been reading closely enough. Heck, this isn't even my first post in the thread.
