Fuck tanking! Blazers @ Sonics 03/18/2012 - Game Thread!

Great effort by our squad. We played with energy and never gave up

The day Ibaka grows a spine and taunts a fellow big man (something I have never seen him do) is going to be a very poor day for him.

Yeah, OKC is real cocky for a team that just arrived to one of the league's best.

He got Nate fired this year. He's earned every dime as far as I'm concerned.

Had he arrived in shape, listened to his coach and played hard, we'd be 2nd seed right now and clicking like crickets on a warm August evening.

So PapaG favors the second half scoring margin stat while Maris61 favors the +/- stat. Please welcome the Irrelevant Stat Society...

You forgot the the middle bit of the story in May, when we somehow fritter away home-court advantage and lose 6-2 to the plucky, upstart 7th seed Denver Nuggets.

Bad Blazers shooting and atrocious home cooking, and that's all she wrote. On the bright side, we're still in the running for the lottery.

I think that thing is called: "Durant".

Durant is no Kobe or Jordan on the defensive end. Nicolas could take him. Sure, Durant made him work defensively, but he should've taken it right back at him on the other end. That's if we think Nicolas can be that building block player that we all want him to be.

Looks like people are starting to see things about Nic that I've been saying all along.

The guy just doesn't get it/have it. He's the definition of a role player and is hardly a building block. If he's your 2nd or 3rd best player you are in trouble.

Batum is worth $6M, but if it's $10M, let it ride.

Apparently he wants $9 million per year as a starting point, which is ridiculous. Swing guys are much easier to come by, I wouldn't spend that much on him. He isn't a huge building block for us. Wilson chandler got 5 years at 37 million, he shouldn't get higher than that.

Chandler got 5/37?

More than 8 for Nic is really pushing it then. I fear the Blazers will overpay to keep him.

The highest I'd go and be comfortable with is 5/40.

Batum will probably go down as another player the Blazers will have wished they had traded while their stock was high. He's nothing but an average player, he definitely does not deserve 10 mil a year.

Seems that every free agent who isn't a scrub thinks they deserve 10 million a year.

He did try to get it going after a timeout with about 5 minutes left in the third quarter; I'm hoping some coach did what I want to do many times; grab him by the shirt and shake him and say "C'mon, be a man out there!" Unfortunately he is a guy that needs to be constantly encouraged and constantly demanded to do more.

The way Crawford was playing in the first half, I was thinking Nik is right that it's better we kept him; he'll help us get in the lottery. His idea of good distribution is to pass to Przbilla 15 feet from the basket with two seconds on the clock. Talking about the lottery; is our attempt to play a zone a subtle way of throwing games? I think the zone is OK sometimes but you gotta have some guys who know how to play it!
By the way, i was really disappointed that nobody laid some lumber on that cheap shot punk Collison before the end of the game. hell, I would have gone after him even if i had to pretend to crash into on the bench!

It's obvious that Felton's problem was Nate. Felton's a top 10 PG in this league when allowed to be.
Nate and his fat, out of shape ass! Of course if he was a real leader he wouldn't have let Nate disrail him. (Andre Miller would be a good example of how to handle a Nate)

Smith looks ALOT less hesitant now that he has a little longer leash with Canales.
