Fuck You, Thanksgiving.

I think the poster would have liked my Thanksgiving dinner.
Eight people crammed around my small table, so we had to serve buffet style. One rule: no swinging elbows! Put kittens in their room for their own safety since eight people, cooking, carving, small kittens underfoot not a safe combination.

We had:
Hummus (two varieties), vegetables, crackers, spiced edamame
Salad of very local (10' from my door) baby greens, roasted pumpkin, apple
Maple brined turkey breast with wild mushroom gravy
Braised turkey dark meat
Roast potato wedges
Herb & onion dressing
Stir fried coconut green beans
Maple glazed carrots
Maple chipotle sweet potatoes (dairy) plus coconut milk sweet potatoes (vegan)
Corn muffins
Cranberry streusel muffins
Very local peach preserves and very local pear butter
Red wine cranberry sauce
Brown sugar apple pie and vanilla ice cream
Chocolate raspberry cheesecake with whipped cream and raspberry sauce
Pear cranberry crumble
Vegan strawberry/raspberry sorbet
Wine, sparkling cider

And yes I made everything from scratch including ice cream and the chocolate cookies to make the chocolate crumb crust for cheesecake

Wow. That sounds amazing. I think I gained 5 pounds just reading the menu.

Better be careful with the invitation, crandc. You feed me like that and you'll have to explain the the EMTs how you ended up with a plump, white, straight, Christian dude comatose on your kitchen floor.

I like thanksgiving for the food. family use to be a good time but now no one talks to eachother and stares at their phones. Also seems to be bigger focus on black friday which is just pathetic. christmas has been shit for a long time now. so much focus on materialism. then you have the other extreme with christians who really think its the birthday of jesus even though tax season was around august.

Christmas is a pain in the ass. Show your love by shopping until you are bad tempered, exhausted, and broke, supposedly in the name of one who allegedly walked with the poor and outcast. Crappy music on every radio station. People assuming I celebrate a holiday I don't. Moronic right wingers saying they are victims of an imaginary "war on Christmas" if someone says happy holidays. Killing trees. People too lazy to get rid of their trash properly dumping Styrofoam in my recycle bin (this happens every year, and it is not recyclable so I have to keep taking it out. One more annoyance.)

Only thing I like about it is Nutcracker ballet. But that is just about childhood fantasy, the goyish holiday only the setting.

Thanksgiving, the day we share an oversized dinner with family and claim we are thankful for everything we have, and that we have everything we need...then we go trample people to spend money and get things we don't need....thats the American spirit!
