and laughing we cried foul in Game 1.

I am horrified. The refs in this game were absolutly NOT doing their jobs. I am very young (still in high school) and I'VE had better refs in rec-leauges! I sincerely beleive that these refs should be fired, or at least penalized in some way, for potentially blowing the game for the mavs.
Yes, I am a Mavs fan, but I know for a fact that if the favor of the calls were reversed, the Blazers' fans would have been just as upset. The mavericks and the blazers have worked equally as hard, both not to have the game thrown by rediculous refs. Also, if I were a Blazer fan (not to be harsh), but I would not be completely satisified with their win tonight because the refs were so titled.
I think that is just incredibly rediculous that in the NBA, not to mention a playoff game, the refs should make that many appauling "mistakes". Beleive me, I have better things to do than to stay up after a 10:00 start game and post out of complete anger, but I truely think something NEEDED to be said!
I am completely determined to find out who the refs were, possibly complain. The mavs play game 4 in Portland in just a few days, and I swear, if the refs are as completely horrific as they were tonight, I will complain to a higher force than the fan forums!!

Honestly, I am not posting this to get in a fight with Blazer fans, I just think the refs were awful. It had very little to do with who was playing, the refs were just and ill-fit for a playoff game.

That person is obviously an idiot. They think their complaining to a "higher force" will do anything?

from the opening call of the game (on Chandler) the calls went Portland's way more then not. From the 2nd quarter on I had the same sorts of doubts that the Blazers would lose (very little) that I had that they would win game 1 because the officiating seemed so tilted in their favor.

Come the end of the series I hope I'm not feeling like the games are being overtly manipulated... that would be great

I still think we got away with that 3 by Kidd being counted as a 2. Looks like a 3 to me. But whatever, 'bout time we got a break from the refs. The no call on the midget's flopping was excellent, as well. I really hope that continues so our guards can pound the hell out of him.

Kidd did take FOUR steps on that play though.

But it didn't matter cause we won by 5 points. That extra point wasn't going to make a difference.

I'm not sure what you're point is magnifier? The Blazers did get homer calls all night long ... a ton of 'em in fact. So far there have been nothing but homer calls in this series.

Which brings me to another point I've had a nagging feeling for awhile that the league has been trying to subtly put a finger on the scale -- so to speak -- in an effort to lengthen series when they can, or more overtly favor one team getting to the later rounds over another. We'll see how it shakes out the rest of the way.

Really?!?! They shot 2 more free-throws than we did. Dallas 13-23 and Portland 17-21

Exactly, Nik. We got every fucking call all night. It really seemed like league was fixing it for a longer series. I've never seen us get so many calls. There were so many times we fouled them but they called traveling. And they let us get away with anything all night long. Crazy. As for the shot at the end, it's not fair because if it was called a three, there would've been more pressure on Miller and he might've not made both.

I give the game balls to Chris Johnson for his two vicious dunks that would've been called goal tending in Dallas and Free Throw Guy who got Dirk to miss one in the clutch.

Great game. Can't wait for Saturday. I wonder who will be effected the most by the quick turnaround. Does anyone have stats about which team plays better in afternoon games?

But it was all the times they DIDNT call fouls on us that made a difference.

Bullshit! Mavs had plenty of opportunities in the 4th that they could cash in. The game was actually called fair. Game 1 was terrible. Game 2 was fair and so was 3.

We definitely got the benefit of the calls tonight. So we can pretty much call it even for the series so far: refs gave Dallas game 1 and definitely helped us in game 3. Game 2 was fairly even. I just hope that if/when this series gets into game 6/7 that they let the players decide the outcome.

No mags, we definitely got more calls tonight. It wasn't as atrocious as Dallas' edge in game 1 but we got homer calls tonight. Lord Stern wants more than 4 or 5 games out of this series . . .

No dude. It's not all about who shot the most freethrows. They let us get away with a lot. Yes, Dallas still could've won but we had our chances to win in Game 1 too.

We got away with a lot, Dallas got away with a lot and there were the phantom calls and a few times they went to the line when they shouldn't have. Game was defiantly called in our favor, not the an insane point but to the point we would always seem to get a call when our lead would slip away in the 4th. If the game had been closer at the end I think the reffing would have gone from in our favor to "omg this is game 1 all over again but for the blazers this time".
We defiantly need to work on our end game, we seem to just throw the ball around way to much and take bad shots late in the clock. Also the throwing the ball around so much leads to a lot of late game turnovers.

Does your computer automatically substitute "defiantly" every time you type "definitely"???

Only thing I thought we got away with was pounding the hell out of Barea in the post and the refs not calling offensive fouls on our guards. Game 1 and game 2 would have been offensive fouls. I thought the noncalls were the correct calls. It's bullshit that every time our guards post Barea up that his head would bounce back 2 feet. His head is at our guards' shoulders when they post him up, it's only natural that their shoulders will hit his head when he leans into them. A player of the same height guarding would not have this problem. You can't reward him for being short.

Amen to that - I said that the other night after game 2.

If this was some other everyday activity then I say maybe cut the little midget some slack. But this is the NBfuckingA where it's a bunch of big, tall, strong dudes. If you're too short, light and weak to defend one on one, that's your bad and the other guys shouldn't be penalized for it.

Stern has fined Cuban for years, and had his refs slanted against the Mavs. So I was surprised at Game 1's foul imbalance. Tonight was more consistent with the past.

I thought the calls Portland got were of set by the 5 or 6 flops the Mavs got away with. Not that it was a well officiated game, but in the end I thought it evened out.

They did have a few no calls on flops, but they also still called a few of his flops. The no calls is good officiating, not being in our favor one bit. It's not calling somehting because it isn't a foul. I think, again, we were the more aggressive team, and thus should have gotten more foul calls because of it. The same way we were in games 1 and 2. I don't think the calls were really in our favor all that much, though.

Also, I wonder if they saw Kidd lift his feet up 20 times, and decided to just give him the 2 because they should have easily noticed his travel.

I was naive to this after game one, thinking it was all the Blazers fault. But Now I see how true this is. The NBA knew if we won game 1 it would change the whole series.

You've got to be fucking kidding.

You had to fucking be there, the fans def got in his head.

Hmm ... if last night was obviously reffed toward the Blazers, let's see which team I'd rather be.

Team A when favored by refs: 19 FTs in the 4th quarter, 2 for opponent, outscored 46-18 in the paint.

Team B when favored by refs: Outshot 23-21 in FTs while leading majority of game; outshot 10-7 in 4th Qtr FTs while leading entire quarter.

I'll go with Team A.

I wonder about some of you people, and what you're watching. :)
