Jonny Flynn + 23 = difference between 10 and 16? Who's headlining the "package" for IND? Hibbert? Rush and Psycho T? I could see Foster being very useful in MIN, but his contract's way too big.

To deal for Paul, Portland would have to give up Roy and expiring contracts for Paul and one of their big contracts.

And that would be the kind of change in the blazers that was talked about at the start of this thread.

NOH does it so they'd have a Collison/Roy back court.

From the link posted earlier:

It’s hard to imagine the Hornets agreeing to move their franchise star for much, if anything, short of an All-Star, a starter and a high draft pick.

Who on the Blazers is an all-star?

We aren't trading Brandon for a player of his caliber. The only reason to go after Paul would be to pair him with Roy.

So Joel, Nic, and Miller are now worth more than OJ Mayo or the #3 and Harris?

Really?

We can beat a Memphis offer and Nets only have Harris and number 3, and then it ends there if they don't want to give up Lopez. Beating the number 3 could be hard, but I imagine Oden/Batum/Rudy/picks/Miller/ whatever is is better then Harris/number 3 since the rest of what New Jersey has is not that awesome...

I don't see why NOH would take on a bunch of dregs for their all-nba player, a guy who is on course to be in the HOF.

When you have two excellent guys at the same position, you trade one because he'll get you MORE in return.

@WojYahooNBA: Minnesota offering Jonny Flynn and two first-round picks (16 and 23) to Indiana for a package that includes the 10th pick.

Weird, earlier there wasa report Minnesota turned down Flynn for the #10.

Edit, sorry, didn't say where he asid a package including 10. But if they turned down Flynn for 10, who does the differenec in that value plus 16 and 23 et them from Indy?

Which is why I don't really think us landing CP3 is very feasible...unless NOH wants a downgrade of talent.

You think Minny might offer them Al Jefferson for CP3?

I mean, NOH should be looking to get a star player in their lineup as well as dumping a big contract.

It is all about potential if they are truely looking to unload him (and salary relief). Oden has worlds potential, injury prone, but he has potential. Batum has potential. Those guys are on there rookie deals too. Pryzbilla is an expiring. Miller is still good and expiring. New Jersey is offering Harris who is good, but declined a little bit this year and also the number 3 pick, just as much potential as Oden. They probably won't get more in return if they are even willing to deal him.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I'd say you trade one because he'll get you something different in return. If they could trade Chris Paul for Paul Chris, who plays a different position (equal talent in other words) then they do that trade.

It's unlikely, but it happens. Kareem was traded. Wilt was traded. Barkley was traded for Jeff Hornacek!
Money is usually the reason, plus an unhappy player. But does that mean Monty wasn't enough to make Paul happy?

Unless nobody offers you that and you realize you can't play them both, so their value is only going to diminish. And you're paying luxury tax...

I would've said this trade was more likely BEFORE the change of ownership.

And let me be the first (and probably only) person to say that Paul might look a good deal worse as a Blazer than he did as a Hornet. There's a reason Collison looked good in that system. And anyone remember how great everybody thought Damon was when he was on the Raptors? I don't remember Paul standing out AT ALL playing for the US.

Chris Paul or not, I think there's a real possibility the Blazers try their hardest to make a big splash. The pieces are certainly there to go out and get something done.

But does that mean Monty wasn't enough to make Paul happy?

That would be fun. Spending the next few years listening to fans complain about how Monty made this happen, like they say Jerry West did for the Pau Gasol trade.

i think claver is the deal breaker..NOH obviously are gonna want him but we don't want to part ways with him yet, i doubt a deal gets done

They would consider a package based on Oden. He still has the talent to be the best center in the game. He was arguably more valuable to the Blazers early season success than Roy. Paul hasn't been free of injuries either. I still think they won’t trade Paul, but Oden has the potential to make their team far better after a trade when you factor in Orleans getting salary relief, other prospects, and more production from Collision.

When healthy, Paul is the best PG in the League. If KP is able to pull this one off Paul Allen would be a fool to fire him.

C'mon, Oden is a huge risk. He fell down without contact and was hurt for the rest of the season. As a sweetener in a bigger deal, sure. But I really don't see NOH giving up CP3 for nothing but potential.

If you think about it, the Blazers are a 50 win team, back to back, with Roy. In theory, CP3 should make everyone on the floor much better (like he did with Tyson Chandler), so it would be a win-win: upgrade for the Blazers, near equal value for NOH.

CP3 is a future HOFer if he continues as he has. Pau Gasol wasn't. There will be a big bidding war for CP3.

In fact, the Bulls could do Deng and a pick for CP3 and one of those big contracts which is a better deal than what's been talked about here.

I would've said this trade was more likely BEFORE the change of ownership.

This link says that George Shinn hasn't closed on the team's sale yet with the new owner-to-be, Gary Chouest.

“He can be had with Shinn in there, but once the new guy takes over, he’s off the market,” one senior front-office executive told Y! Sports.

Still, rival executives believe Shinn’s willingness to rid payroll should the sales transaction continue to stall is his major motivator in even considering a possible trade of his franchise point guard.

Still doubt they trade Paul though.

Damn you Denny stop crushing our CP3 fantasies!

No, it isn't. Especially when you consider how much Deng is still owed, and how his production has stagnated over the last three years.

Yea, lets not compare Deng to Batum here....especially considering their contracts

LOL. Just calling it like I see it without the rose colored glasses thing going on.

So I take it you won't be attending the CP3 to Portland rally? We'll be offering a free pair of rose colored glasses to the person who brings the best sign.

Deng starts for them at SF and gives them 18/7, efficient scoring, and defense.

If the Bulls took back Peja, it would save NOH over $15M on the payroll as well.

If the Bulls took back Okafor, it would save NOH $52M over the course of Deng's contract.

Deng is only 24, too.

Nic puts up 10/4 while playing 13 fewer minutes than Deng, while shooting better from two point and three point range, as well as the free throw line, and is 21, on a rookie contract for two more years. As opposed to Deng who is owed $51mil over the next four years.

I love and hate this time of year! If info is getting leaked, I'm sure the deal is dead. I'm trying to remember when he last time a rumor came true.

Well, there was the rumor that your wife was having sex with a guy who had a small penis....and turned out it was you. So, that one came true.
