I hope someone links this thread to KP - it is turning into comedy gold!

Well thank you..but i don't think that KP cares too much about HCP's small hcp.

Nic puts up 10/4 while playing 13 fewer minutes than Deng, while shooting better from two point and three point range, as well as the free throw line, and is 21, on a rookie contract for two more years. As opposed to Deng who is owed $51mil over the next four years.

Nic is a career 6.9 scorer and a career PER of 14.6 in 101 starts in 116 games. He missed 45 games last season. Deng is a career 15.8 scorer with a 16.4 PER.

And the contracts have to match. You haven't shown how Portland makes the deal and saves NOH over $52M (actually it's like $67M) over the next 5 seasons.

Players traded in their primes:

Charles Barkley

Tracy McGrady

Chris Webber

Jason Kidd

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

C'mon, Oden is a huge risk. He fell down without contact and was hurt for the rest of the season. As a sweetener in a bigger deal, sure. But I really don't see NOH giving up CP3 for nothing but potential.

If you think about it, the Blazers are a 50 win team, back to back, with Roy. In theory, CP3 should make everyone on the floor much better (like he did with Tyson Chandler), so it would be a win-win: upgrade for the Blazers, near equal value for NOH.

CP3 is a future HOFer if he continues as he has. Pau Gasol wasn't. There will be a big bidding war for CP3.

In fact, the Bulls could do Deng and a pick for CP3 and one of those big contracts which is a better deal than what's been talked about here.

I really don't see Deng as attractive to NOH. Why would they want a David West clone with a big contract and a history of injuries?

West is a PF. Deng played 38 MPG and 70 games last season, 17.6/7.3. He's back.

Collision would have two pretty good forwards to feed.

I laugh at the thought that Deng has any kind of trade value with his injury history and contract.

Supposedly, Paxson refused to pull the trigger on a Deng for Gasol deal back when. And these days, the rumor is the Cavs would do an S&T of LeBron for Deng.

Comparing career PER with Nic is pointless. He is 21, and just broke out last year when he had a PER of 17.3. Deng had a PER of 16.1 last year. And pointing out Nic's one injury as a potential deterrent for him is silly when you look at Deng's repeated bouts with various injuries.

And and Oden/Joel/Nic/Dre for Paul/Okafor saves them 64+ million over the next four years. The Blazers package is a helluva lot more enticing than the silly one you proposed.

They're both 6'9 forwards who love to shoot midrange jumpers and average under eight rebounds per game. Not exactly ideal.

Didn't you want to trade Deng for an expring contract back in February at the trade deadline?

Now he could be the centerpience of a package for Chris Paul?

Deng is most commonly referred to as 'Dung' in the greater Chicago area.

Quit churching up his value

I could see a Deng for Gasol trade being possible, Deng had much more value back then.

But Deng for LeBron is funny.

this is crazy talk.

maybe kingspeed has hijacked DC's account.........

Deng at age 21: 82 games, 18.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 18.7 PER
Batum at age 21: 37 games, 10.1 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 17.3 PER

So the injury bug has hit Batum earlier.

One GM went a bit further in a phone call a few minutes later. "I think the Bulls are really going to go for it. Look for them to offer the Cavs Luol Deng in a sign-and-trade for LeBron. That will allow them to retain most of their cap space. Then they'll go after Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh as well."

Of course the Bulls would love to get a Lebron sign and trade which also allows them to get Chris Bosh.

That has nothing to do with your statement that "Cavs would do an S&T of LeBron for Deng"

And in the three years following, Deng has had PERs of 17, 14.7, and 16, while missing a total of 64 games.

LOL @ the thought of him being traded for Lebron. Why the fuck would CLE accept Deng's huge ass contract, only to trade the best player in the league to a division rival?

dont get me wrong. I really would like to see paul here, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how we could get this done. I would like someone to propose a trade for paul that works under the current guidelines......

Hey, no making the players on your team out to be significantly better than they are! That's Blazer fans job!

Actually, that's the job of EVERY teams fans.

Oden, Miller, Martell, Rudy, Bayless, and two future first round picks for
Paul and Okafor

Could be done anytime under the CBA.

IF LeBron chooses Chicago, what are Cleveland's options?
1) Let him walk
2) Facilitate a S&T

They'd do #2 if they want to see LeBron get the MAX $$$ contract possible, which isn't unheard of. Bulls traded Pippen in such a deal, to Houston for basically nothing. And/Or if they want something in return, like a 24 year old SF who'll start for them for the next 6-10 years.

You can agree to deals in principle, happens all the time..... hell Paul is a BBYC player till july 1st

JPEC can't be traded before July 1

Why? Is there any stipulation of us doing anything before then?
And considering Joel's situation, would any team acquiring him have any reservations of him actually opting out?

BYC deals can be done if the amount of $$$ in/out for both sides is large enough that the BYC difference is in the noise (less than the 125% rule). Even easier if one team has CAP space.
