Did the game seem to change, for the worse, when Meyers was inserted?
And the Blazers played better when he was gone?
It can be said that Meyers is a game changer.Did the game seem to change, for the worse, when Meyers was inserted?

One of the few things I can criticize Lillard/CJ for last night is missing Nards wide open on the pick and pop at least 5 times.
Granted it's Nards so wide open means he's going to pump fake and not shoot...
But still I'm 100% positive Stotts will mention it in the film session.
Gobert had no idea what to do against the pick and roll with Nards in the game. So it is what it is.
When you knew you could get to the rim and put it over Gobert when you wanted... as opposed to giving it up to a very timid player who once again looked lost (I'm only speaking this game... there are definitely some games where he doesn't) you do it... I don't blame them... and the efficient numbers say it was the right decision anyway.
Ok, that's an exaggeration. The wait staff there is very slow. You can't rush a $9 aluminum can of Bud Light.Especially when you know he is not only timid, but so slow to get the shot off. In most cases when he is wide open by the time he gets the shot off the defender has had time to talk to the ref, order and get a drink from one of the wait staff, tie his shoe, go to the bathroom and vote before he has to worry about Meyers shooting.

A recurring theme carrying over from previous years. Other team has very hot player (Johnson) and Stotts doesn't seem to have an answer.
Every change factors in something new. It's easy to think you win this going away if you add Favors and Hayward into the equation. However then how many looks do Johnson and Hood get? The Jazz certainly don't run the ball through JJ as much as they did in the second half where he had 27 points. Don't get me wrong you guys wouldn't have been worse off with your injured players healthy, but there are too many factors in sports to claim you would have won this in any fashion with your usual roster.Really great. We took a very good team to the final two minutes missing 3 of our top scorers from last season, two of them who are far and away our best players. I hate moral victories, but I was happy with the way we played. Just couldn't overcome a ridiculous shooting night from the Blazers.
Dame/CJ/Crabbe is a legit rotation.

Meyers played 9 minutes. I am not totally sure they were even going to play him until Mason got into foul trouble.
So when he entered the game it was during an important stretch. He came in cold off the bench while the others were not. I prefer they let the guy get warmed up before they start force feeding him the ball. They had other options.

How often have two teams shot 100% from the FT line in an opener?
Illogical criticism right here.
It's not like Lillard took 40 shots to get his 39 points.... It's not like he came down and chucked it up every time like Melo or Kobe. He didn't ice his teammates out.
I remember two shots from Lillard that were outside of the offense and could be considered bad shots, however they went in.
Even if he misses those two shots he still shoots over 50% from the field.~
Lillard took 20 shots, 6 of which were 3's. He had 9 rebounds, 9 free throws, 6 assists and 4 turnovers.(three of which were in the first quarter if I remember right)
I'd say Lillard played within the concept of the team and kept his teammates involved.
I understand what you're saying, you don't think the MVP award should compromise winning.
However if Lillard takes the same shots/amount of shots as he did last year, but shoots a better % he's going to be on the short list for the MVP.
He's holding himself to a higher standard this year. If that's not leading, then I don't know what is.
Curry however took the same shots that won him the MVP award last year, but lost him a 3-1 lead in the Finals.
A 30ft three pointer is still worth the same amount a 24.9' is. They lost by 29 at home.

To emphasize your point.... Utah scored exactly ZERO points in the last 4:24 of the game. This wasn't an accident.Except that he did call a bunch of switches at the end of the game that shut Joe down at the most critical point of the game. And, when a guy like Johnson is "on", it can be pretty tough to shut him down for an entire game, just like it was impossible for the Jazz to shut Dame down.
Impressed with Dame taking it right into the chest of Gobert over and over. Not sure how many dimes we had out there, but it seemed like they were really moving the ball around trying to find the open man. Vonleh continuing to play well on the offensive end, but his defense last night really impressed The HCP!
I've noticed Calabro doesn't give shout outs to the guys in the broadcast truck.
Thomas/Dumars/Johnson
Just getting to know us, or maybe that's not his thing.I've noticed Calabro doesn't give shout outs to the guys in the broadcast truck.
