Game 2 adjustments

Like Griffin before him, Green us just too big and strong for the athletic bit very thin Aminu or Harkless. Griffin sometimes would drift outside but anytime he wanted to score inside, he did so almost at will. Green is overpowering or smaller defenders and then hits a wide open teammate when the help comes.

Vonleh from his shear size and strength might offer more resistance and make Green more of a scorer instead of facilitator which admittedly he would rather pass.

If we get down 10, I would experiment with Montero at SG. We could put whoever is at SF on Klay and I think Montero could guard Barnes and provide shooting.

I agree with some others that Vonleh matches up better with Draymond than Aminu/Harkless.
He plays great defense for such a young player. And the experience would be very beneficial for him.

If Bogut is in - then Davis should cover him.
Play Vonleh/ Plumlee on Green, CJ on Barnes, Lillard on Livingston, Harkless/Aminu on Klay.

I know this doesn't mean anything but whenever I watch Luis in pre-game shootarounds he cans 3s like they're nothing.

In Game 6 against the Clippers in warm ups, he was draining everything. He and Pat were shooting against each other and Luis just kept flicking his wrist. Then he started backing up behind the line and finally from about 30' he had one go in and out. He just flipped the ball to Connaughton on and walked away laughing.

Haha that is actually exactly what I was referencing.

Have CJ front Barnes when he's posting up then have Boguts defender play the backside

Yikes, just 10? I think I'd wait until we're down at least 25 to start hitting panic buttons like putting in a kid who only played like one year of community college ball against a team that is the defending champs and just won 73 games in the regular season.

The dude is 6'7. We need size on the wings to be able to defend. Problem is, our big wings can't shoot. Except for Montero, plus he's another ball handler. It's a different look.

The problem with this idea is the refs won't give Montero and to a slightly lesser extent, Vonleh, a fair look when it comes to whether or not he legitimately fouled what ever player on Golden State he is guarding because he is a 'young and end of the bench scrub' in the refs eyes.

I mean come on, who do you think the refs will favor in a fouling situation? The guy who plays on the history making and defending champions team or the guy who is on a team who was a 'Did not Play' for most of the season?

If this wasn't the case and their was no bias with the refs I would suggest Alexander guarding Draymond. He has the strength to deal with Green as well as the height advantage to contest shots. Sadly we are not one of the darlings of the NBA so 'fair' doesn't apply to the Blazers.

If at any point we have Montero in, we'll know the game is out of reach. His rawness against the well-oiled machine we're facing would be disastrous.

Montero has 1st round talent but when I watch him play it's like he's got no brains. I'd caution on using him unless the game is out of reach but long term I would like to keep him because I think there's something we can work with here. I trust our player development staff.

I really like Harkless, but I just have a tough time seeing him as a starting 3 unless the 4 and 5 can both shoot threes. He really needs a consistent jumpshot. I love that he tries to dunk everything inside.

I bet we see more of Connaughton this series. We can use his 3pt shooting.

When we were starting Aminu/Vonleh/Plumlee I thought we needed two new starters at those three positions. I'm not sure if Harkless can count as a "new starter" at SF, but it would at least be a step in the right direction. I'm hopeful that with a summer of work he can become a decent enough shooter. But Aminu/Vonleh/Plumlee are all far too limited in what they contribute - definitely need two complete players and then the third guy should be fine.

Plumlee has shown the most promise, so new SF/PF would make the most sense. The problem is there aren't many good (available) SFs...which is why I hope Harkless is able to take a leap next season.

I think you just need one of them (Center or PF) not necessarily both. That is assuming Harkless continues to improve and get his own 3 pt percentage up around 35%. Ideally Vonleh can be that PF. But there is also a chance a front line of Harkless, Plums and Leonard could work for stretches. (Leonard playing PF on offense and C on defense)

He's tough and can handle the ball quite well - I'd much rather see more of him and less of Aminu.

Vonleh's range is all theoretical. When we got him he was touted as an outside shooter, but has displayed no such touch in a year of playing time. Don't know if something is wrong with his shot or if the coaches are working with him to tweak his release. Looks like he's trying to get it off quicker but he's bricks a lot of shots really badly off the side of the rims.

If you start Plumlee in the front court you have to pair him up with some size, because otherwise we have no rim protector.

Can't see us winning a title without a real rim protector.

Seriously, though. We gotta lock Moe in a gym with a rebounder and shooting coach. If he can consistently hit 35% from 3, he is our SFotF.

This is my biggest complaint about the NBA. Rules are rules, and should be enforced regardless of who's who. Or is it who's whom? Whom's who?

Very raw.... but compared to almost every time Aminu starts to dribble or makes a pass under pressure, at least Luis had ability in that area. Plus he has a better outside shot.
Totally unproven but at least has the skills to work with. Aminu just can't dribble and that doesn't look to be improving. It Al is over-matched, at least look at other options with different skills.
