@Mediocre Man
I know you're not in town, so weren't at the game.

How many people here were?
Seriously?
@Charcoal Filtered? pretty sure you were there.

So I watched the game last night on dvr. But I was also at the game. There is a major fail at the 6:40 mark of the fourth quarter that only people who were present at the game are privy to.
@HCP ? Love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this.

So at the 6:40 mark is when Plumlee was called for the flagrant when he slightly bumped into the back of Griffin, who then went into a major flop.
All the replays on TNT only go back far enough for the viewers to see Plumlee running in from the perimeter and bumping him in the back. No extension of his arms or anything, just a small bump.
While watching on TV if you notice, while the refs are reviewing the play, the crowd erupts into another major booing frenzy of which I happily joined in. ( I came out of this game hoarse by the way and Im a fricken vocalist with some chops, so that gives you an idea of how bad it was there, which is also not accurately reflected in the tv version with regards to the level of the audio. I think they turned a bunch of the booing down).

I know this has been slightly touched upon by a couple people, but I want to make this clear. What the people present at the game saw on the big screen was a replay that went further back than any shown on TV. The replay is about 6 seconds back and it shows Griffin running up the court and approximately at the half court line comes up from behind on Plumlee and basically bear hugs him and twists him aside, almost tossing him to the ground. Then Griffin darts down into the paint, of which Plumlee follows. and then the ensuing "Flagrant" foul. The play should have been called dead there long before Plumlee went after Griffin with a foul ON Griffin. It was so blatant, I'm not sure they weren't actually doing a hack a Plums attempt. The crowd exploded when it was shown on the big screen but the millions(?) of viewers never got a replay of that. It was complete BS.
@HCP Do you guys in the truck control the playback on the big screen in the moda center? If so man, seriously. All bullshit we have had aside. Thank you much and mad respect. :smiley-predaja::cheers:. How does the replay work on the national level games like that? Do they use feed from each of the teams, or do they have their own? Are you able to send video footage to TNT that they may not get with their own cameras if there is a separation? I would love to hear you explain this for me/us so we know in detail how that works.

So for a recap, those here who were not present at the game, do not have a complete picture of just how bad this game was unfortunately.
I was there. IF I thought for sure I could reach the court with my rip city soft drink, I would have tossed it, but I was 300 level and didn't want to hit another fan. I would have gladly taken the boot to emphasize the point of how atrocious it was.
Then you take into account the foul that Riddick called for the refs....

Like I said.. The worst game I have ever seen officiated and unfortunately, unless you were there, you dont have the full scope how completely pathetic it was.

@HCP

Hoping you can comment on the above. I do value your opinion. :)

HCP doesn't read books, or current game threads, especially not old game threads.

1. Shorten it to 25 words.

2. Shorten that to 15 words.

3. Shorten that to 5 words, ending with the word FAMS!

4. PM him, include the word rookie, and ask him to reply.

There is a separate crew that does the replays on the big screen.

As far as the national games go or regional broadcasts...... the NBA back in NJ have access to all cameras home and road show. I will que up the best angle and replay it in the truck for the officials back east and majority of the time they use my replay.

As far as the Plumlee call, I looked at it from about 8 or 9 different angles and he gave him a pretty big stiff arm in the back. I think it was a good call. The fans are even more biased than the people on this forum, so to mention their reaction......they boo everything against their team.

Last night I was cutting the coaches sound for TNT. While watching the action, I had to listen to Doc on headsets.......THE WHOLE GAME! My ears are still bleeding!
Did you sign any confidentiality agreements about what he said?

There are two people that sit with me during the game monitoring what he says. When I pick what to put together to make air, they check it and double check it then tell me YES or NO. Then at the end of the night, they watch me delete all files before they take off.

If I really wanted to, it's pretty easy to go back and get them, but they aren't that squared away on the equipment we use.

I just meant, can you share any damning anecdotes?

Thanks for responding.

So my question though is about the bear hug Griffin gave Plums first. Did the refs ever get footage of it being so far back? I don't know? I am assuming that they see more than what is actually broadcast over the air?
I also know they cant go back and call a foul on Griffin in that instance, but Im mostly curious about whether they actually even saw the replay of it, or if it was JUST on the big screen for the fans?

I'm not saying Plums didn't foul Griffin, but a Flagrant is very debatable and even becomes more debatable when you see the whole replay of what lead to Plums foul?

I guess the point I am trying to make is two fold...
One, how do the fans know what the refs are actually seeing is the same as what the fans are seeing, when the TV doesn't show what the refs are looking at and doesn't show what the fans in the arena are looking at? TNT's control, I know, just thought you might have more insight.
Second, Do you know if the league is thinking about reviews ans opening up how far back they can look at a play to determine the right call? Id like to see maybe a 5-7 second rule, so the refs can go back far enough to actually make the correct call. The correct call should have been a foul on Griffin with it being the Blazers ball at half court... IF the calls were called in the proper timeline.

It just seems like complete bullshit when a ref can blow a whistle and call a foul 5 seconds after it happened and ONLY because the player fouled told her to cal lit, but then cant go back and give Griffin a foul 8-9 seconds later on the other play.

Complete BS. This game will have me riled up all year. I saw both sides and IF I didn't know better I would be saying that it was a fix...
