GAME 2 - RANGERS-KINGS

Richards wide open net and into the pad. Zucc a wide open net and misses it. Kreider on the break and off the blocker.

Ryan McDonagh deserves to get called out in this one for his soft play on defense. First of all his terrible giveaway lead to a goal in this game and then on the game winner he's standing behind Brown like a fucking idiot. Doesn't even make an attempt to tie the man up. Deflection....score....game over.

The good news is the Kings had no business winning that game. The Rangers outplayed them for most part despite all the issues.

The bad news is the Kings had no business winning that game

Can say that twice but means nothing because the Rangers are still down 2-0

A series against a team like this just magnifies whats still missing from the roster.

I'm not really that surprised though. Kings know how to win these games

37 yo Willie Mitchell is playing better than our 'studs'.

I don't think I agree with that sc. Game 1 we were step for step through 2 periods. The 3rd was awful. OT never really got going to make a call.
Tonight I think we outplayed them overall IMO. And worst case it was a go anyway kind of game.
We also had four 2 goal leads in two games.

So I think we have been right there. What they have is what Dis is saying, they have an IT and know how to win these games. We need to get that, and maybe we will after this series.

Now I do still think we need one more big dman to do work in front, but outside of that I think we really are a solid team. This should be a 1-1 series.

The shame of it is now we have to do it all again. Not easy to get this far. That's the worst part.

Good for Hank calling out the questionable call.

No team had come back from three different four goal leads to win a Finals game in history. It figures the Rangers would be the ones to allow it to happen.

I thought the 3rd goal was a bad call and totally changed the complexion of the game but they had ample chances to win the game and nobody got it done

It's also the Kings Messiah. There's a reason they came back 0-3 from SJ. There's a reason they won 3 G7s on road. There's a reason they won in Chicago down 2-0 early. It's what they do

I agree theyve held their own and played well in both games and sadly have nothing to show, so i guess they have a glass half full. I just think our centers dont give them enough, which most people would agree with. Its not like Kopitar is hurting them all that much either.

My issue with blaming the call is NOT that I don't think it was interference, it was, but it never should have come down to that...CLEAR THE PUCK. CLEAR THE PUCK on the Gabby goal also. And on that last goal. And on the 1st goal in game 1. And the OT winner in game 1. On and on.

So while yes it was a missed call, I just cannot blame that call when we simply make sloppy mistakes in our own zone over and over AND we had four 2 goal leads in two games. And 3 two goal leads tonight.

You should NOT lose 2-0, 3-1, 4-2 leads in the SCF. We were perfect with a lead into the 3rd. We have no excuses. We gave it away combined with the Kings never giving up.

I am not really even that upset. When you blow FOUR 2 goals leads in two games and lose both, what can you say. If we knew how to be strong on the puck and clear the zone we are 1-1 for sure. And Kreider missing on 4 great chances in OT doesn't help either.

I think I am most upset because I would have loved to see the Garden rocking Monday night tied at 1-1 in a tossup series.

the Garden will be rocking anyway ... This series is far from over

I'm just not going to rip a roster that has gone toe to toe pretty much with one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the NHL.

Yes we can use an upgrade at C from Richards. And yes we can use another big dman, but we are a good deep team. Our 3rd and 4th lines are very good. Maybe better than 99% of the teams in the NHL. We have a very good deep team. That's just reality.

This was Brad Richards worst game of year

Al, I was thinking that also and is one of the most amazing stats in the series down 2-0 to a team that has never had a lead in either game. Unbelievable.

Which to me makes it even worse we are down 2-0 guys. That is a crusher mentally, how can it not be. WORST CASE this should be a 1-1 series, but it isn't and we are in a very large 2-0 hole. That is tough to overcome mentally.

The start to game 3 will be a big focus for me. Do we play like we have played outside of the 3rd in game 1, or do we show some deflation and get behind early and let the Kings roll. We'll see.

Reality is they just need to win Monday and some doubt will creep in to the Kings.

Get this series to 2-1 and go from there.

Lose Monday they might get swept.

The early 3rd period goal and failed ot pps really hurt the momentum.

All we can do Dis. Win game 3 and make game 4 count. I have no real feel at all for game 3. We can win it of course, but I can also see us being drained and lose it. Flip a coin...

Richards and MSL both - 3's. Richards was flat out awful. And MSL wasn't that much better.

What a tough loss. This one hurts because we also blew game 1. If this series was 1-1 right now I would be feeling AWESOME about our chances.

I don't think the roster needs to be ripped apart, but Richards MUST be bought out (he's just too slow out there) and Nash MUST be traded as he's softer than a fucking roll of Charmin out there. We could probably get a good dman with a shot for him, or at least a few high draft picks. Needs to be done. Losing Nash isn't a loss, nor is losing Richards. Can sign Statsny with money saved from Richards buy out and Nash trade and a few other pieces as well.

1. I do agree Richards needs to be bought-out. He is past his prime, combined with the big cap issues it would hit us with down the road, and it makes it almost a slamdunk he needs to be bought-out.

2. As for Nash, look he is very soft. That is the reason he doesn't score in the playoffs. Don't search for other answers, because that is THE answer. And the rare game where he is angry or fired up and we see him not play soft, you see what he can do in those games, and it is really strong. BUT the issue is you need to get value for him...NOW. We CANNOT deal him for picks that means nothing to a win now team. If we deal Nash we need good value that can help this team win NOW...not 2 or 3 years from now. That is the issue with dealing Nash for a win now team.

And BTW...I don't care that he is doing other things. Good for him that he is still working, but he gets 7.8 mill per to score goals, not to play on the PK and have 3 goals in 22 playoff games. He NEEDS to score to be worth it.
