A win is a win even if they kind of had to struggle all night to get it done. In a game where Whiteside has a franchise record setting number of blocks, I would hope it wasn't such a battle. Still...it's a win.
I credit the Bulls for being scrappy and making shots...they run the court and they were really desperate for a win tonight...they didn't lay down and lose...we beat them

yeah, I think this was more a case of Chicago playing up to the competition rather than Portland playing down to it

Looked like the Bulls wanted that game pretty bad. They played tough the whole way. Glad the Blazers took care of business.
Nice night by Hassan Whiteside! What can ya say! What the fuck happened to your offense?
Boy 1M sure has been scouted. They already know he drives right and when he goes left it's going back right every time. Kid can't get two steps into the paint without getting stuffed. He has a bunch to work on. Glad to see he is still getting minutes. I'm betting if some of those outside shots were to fall he would get a little more room to work. He didn't get some calls he should have either.
It's kind of nice to see 5 options to score on the court. Yeah i think Melo is working but IMHO Hood has been the key to this all working. Teams simply cannot leave him. He is torching them.

That is exactly what i watched also. The Bulls played a very tough game. Never quit. Played with a bunch of energy. Pride!

he's been great so far, and it's been entertaining, but don't get too far over your skis. The NBA average for TS% is around 55%, and the highest Melo has shot over the last 6 years is 53.5%; and he's been down around 52%. Maybe he'll remain consistent as a Blazer, but he has been a real streaky shooter over those 6 years. He's bound to have brick-fest games...all scorers do. Hopefully, he'll limit them and find his range quickly
Well he doing other things that surprise me a little bit he rebounding throw out assist and playing decent defense. He not shooting many 3 most his shots come from different varieties location on the floor.

Thing with Melo he’s always done two things very well, score in the post and shoot set shots, consistently hovering around 40%. Hes getting a lot more chances on the block, something I don’t remember him seeing doing much of in OKC or Houston. I missed watching a scorer get to work down there. Haven’t really seen it since Aldridge left.

Melo's passing, rebounding, screening and help defense along with vocal engagement on defense have been top notch....I don't GAF what the spin doctors say....he's talking with his game

Where is @Tince at saying Rodney Hood is not a starter in this league???

I'm right here and I STILL have never said that Hood is not a starter, no matter how many times you claim I said it.

Thrilled he's having a career season through 1.5 months. @OneSport3 guess you have to admit Stotts is the best coach he's ever had! :smiley-beerchug:

Being lead to wins by Carmelo Anthony and Hassan Whiteside.. Lillard is the mvp

Won in spite of stotts again. He will soon be gone and we will finally have a coach.

Until then, dame is our coach.
Wow? Seriously cannot figure out this narrative? Every loss is because of Terry Stotts and every win is because of Damian Lillard? Even when Damian Lillard would say that is complete and udder bullshit. But if that floats yer boat? Have at it.

I think Blazers fans should be excited. We legit added an all-star level player for nothing. This is what we've been clamoring for a while. It's still a small sample size but I'm betting on Melo and I think his great play continues. The incentive to trade for a Kevin Love is so much less. It's not even worth it because I'd rather have Hassan. I think Melo is better than most players we could add at that position. You MIGHT be able to make an argument for Blake Griffin but it's not as strong now. We need better production off the bench which is something we could certainly look at but I think we have to be excited about our starting lineup. Rodney Hood is fucking dope! Hassan too. We already know the backcourt.

Best starting lineup in a decade. Let's get some more bench help though.

We're finally getting some balance in our offense which is what I've been preaching for years. Stotts is looking better today than he has in a long while.

When people wake up and realize the stotts haters are right. Because we are.

The never-Stotts crew has a really difficult time picking some unit of measurement that:

1) They would be willing to use as an over/under in the future to determine his effiveness
AND
2) Use that same criteria to compare him to other coaches in the league.

There's a good reason they don't want to do that though...

Some great pictures from the Blazers site -

I love seeing Anthony talking to Dame, talking to Whiteside, talking to Stotts, talking to Simons. He seems to really have adopted this team.

Absolutely, but I'm HOPING/PRAYING/PLEADING that this might be different. He has always considered himself as "the man". There's a lot less pressure on him here because of our backcourt, so he can restrict himself to better shots than in the past.

My fault you said he wasn’t a high-quality starter and should come off the bench.

I never said we had another forward on our roster that should start over Hood. Our bench scored 9 points tonight, wouldn't it be nice to have a guy like him in our second unit? Second unit Rodney helped get us to the WCF.

I still don't think he's a top 30-40 forward in the league. And of course, when we were pairing him with Tolliver or Mario, we were rolling out one of the worst starting forward tandoms in the NBA, which was my original point.

If you think we should back up the brinks truck and pay Rodney high quality starter money this summer, then you value him at a different level than any NBA GM to date.

the problem is that we’re relying too heavily on young guys. There isn’t a veteran dude who can come in and score. Hood was money off the bench in the playoffs but I also really like him in the starting lineup. We need a trade.
But we can keep two of Dame, CJ, Rodney, and Melo on the court at all times. We can play one of the guards and one of the forwards with the bench. Thats been what Stotts has been doing lately.

Why cant he start and play with the 2nd unit?

Stotts has been fine the last few games. The ball is moving better and he started making his rotations so 2 out of Dame, CJ, Hood, and Melo are always on the court.
