I won't say that was a bad period, as the Canes are all out to keep their season legitimately alive, but the Rangers didn't have much that period. They passed too much on the PP and I don't think they really tested their goalie once, so we have no real clue how he'll perform when tested. Let's see if they can get into the game and up their play in the 2nd.

Side note: Trouba has become a huge negative for this team. I cannot recall a player falling off a cliff like he has. If he is still hurting, play Jones. The Gust/Trouba pairing is a mistake waiting to happen.

Better period than the 1st. Need to shoot more when they have the chance, make this goalie earn it in the 3rd. A desperate Carolina team playing for their playoff lives at home, and we are tied going into the 3rd, I think we all would have signed up for that before the game. Need to win one period here, I expect us to play a solid 3rd, and the Canes may get a little tight and frustrated.
