Can someone explain to me why Dame is guarding Booker?

I wonder about this not only in that game but consistently it seems Dame tries to cover the other teams best scorer in the back court. Steph, Booker, Harden, Beal, Even Westbrook at times. I just don't get it. Other great players try to stay away from it so they can conserve energy and allow better defenders to keep the other player from getting hot early. Dame insists on trying to guard them?
Tonight only after Booker cooked us for about 20 points did Trent start covering him. Too Late!

That Dame can't stay in front of CP3 and if you let CP3 get to the lane and score/distribute to others, you'll be in for a long night.

You shouldn't need to stagger two guys making 30M. It just doesn't make sense. I'm not ever saying that CJ's not a fantastic offensive player. I just don't think he gets what he should out of Dame and Dame doesn't get what he should out of CJ. So get Randle and a backup PG and move on. That's what I think at least but you're lucky because I think Neil is with you on this one.

put Dame on CP3. He a much better matchup for Dame than Booker, and CP doesn't look to score nearly as much as he did. And Dame has defended Paul for years. Yeah, sometimes badly, but he's also has decent games guarding Paul. Starting the game with Dame on Booker was fucking stupidity. It made not one bit of sense. And if CP3 is a problem, put Dame on Bridges.

quit trashing Dame in your zeal to defend Stotts

I said nothing about Stotts. Please point to where I was praising his coaching.

I didn't like Dame on Booker. I don't like Dame on CP3 for the reasons you mentioned; he's defended him poorly in his career.

I'm sorry if you think me saying Dame is a bad matchup for CP3 and Booker is bashing him. I think Dame has improved on D, but he's average at best.

Most teams do not put their point guard on Dame either. Dame should not be trying to guard Booker. Now actually what i am seeing from Chris Paul i think Dame can guard. He is nowhere near as quick as he used to be.
