He and whiteside, and Melo all “cheat on defense”, they make awesome looking plays here and there but their almost never fundamentally sound and where they should be. Dame and CJ are usually fundamentally ok they
Melo might be a better defender than Bazemore right now. Baze has been horrible defensively the past few games.

Maybe? But neither Id say are “good” defenders. Melo’s usually off in no mans land and I barely ever see him make a clean rotation.

It's because it's not an effort thing, it's a talent disparity thing.

Sometimes that may be the case, but I'm seeing some very slow close outs and a lot of slow feet.

As for talent, we have a 1st team All-NBA player, according to many here, a near all-star in CJ, a future HoF'er in Melo', and one of the better Centers in the league. Doesn't seem like that much of a lack of talent....at least with the starters.

Imagine Jordan Clarkson instead of Simons coming off our bench. That would be so much more of a punch than what Simons has been doing

Our guards having trouble getting around picks. One thing Gober sitting at 3 point line so hard recovery off the pick our guards need to pick up there higher up.

They look like tortoises out there. Slow motion.

Harland surprised as hell Blazers were at the free throw line

Clarkson makes two runners and now we are asking how we missed out on him?! Have any of you seen him play before?

Not sure because Melo is going to be in the HOF means he's good and has quick feet. Maybe we should go after KG and Tim Duncan if being a future HOF matters.

This game is over then another L next game against the Lakers. Happy New Year Blazers

What a dreadful first quarter. The lack of perimeter defense is appalling. They just dance around their screeners until they get open because whiteside is sitting under the hoop. Not to mention there is a serious pick of effort to just defend the perimeter at all

Pittsburgh vs Eastern Michigan in the Detroit bowl all of a sudden looking like a decent option.
