His minus 12 in those 2 minutes might explain it.

It sucked that happened and as soon as it did, you knew Stotts would bury him on the bench again for perhaps a month. Looking back at that quick stretch, it wasn't really his fault. In fact, he got an offensive rebound, kept another possession alive and not sure if anyone scored on him. His size and activity had a brief effect which is all you can ask for now.

If CJ recovers from his sprained ankle, the team is better than what played last night. If Nurk returns at all, the team is better than what played last night. If the trade gets completed today and Ariza and a couple of big bodies are available, the team is better than what played last night. If either Collins or Skal is able to return, the team is better than what played last night. If Olshey makes another trade, the team is likely better than what played last night. I feel fairly confident that the team will be better than what played last night. But, of course, an asteroid might hit the planet and wipe out all life, so you do have reason for pessimism.

It's pretty sad that we have fans that look at everything in such a negative light and constantly only focus on the negatives. It's been a tough season but there is still light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, how do we get him here in free agency?

He turned down 12.5 per year already. Blazers after the Ariza trade have about 16M max this offseason. So it’s not impossible. If they move Hood they will have more. I’m assuming Hood takes his 6.7M option due to the injury. There’s also some wiggle room if they move Trent or Hezonja. Could Bogdonavic command 20+? With the money out there this offseason I could definitely see it. Plus he will be restricted. I don’t see much chance.

Unfortunately, it's my pipe dream that will go unfulfilled. I can't think of a better 6th man who could even slot in next to Dame/CJ at SF

So he's now our savior? Wow.

I have some thoughts about all that:

over the last 5 games, Dame has averaged 39 minutes. That's a lot of minutes piled on top of the minutes he's played this season, which is piled on top of his double duty and heavy burden of being the #1 scoring option and the only guy that can run the offense...

now, if Portland was trying to protect HCA late in the season, that could be justified. But I just don't think he should be logging all those minutes and yes, I know Portland would have lost tonight if Dame hadn't played every one of those 40 minutes in regulation. Lighten his load Stotts! Portland is 19-26...it wouldn't really matter if they were 16-29 with Dame not being ground into the floor
**************************************************

now, as for "wasting Dame's prime"...I used to think that. But here's the thing: Dame doesn't want Stotts replaced; Dame doesn't want CJ traded; in fact Dame doesn't want any of his teammates traded. He has that kind of loyalty, and yeah, it might be a little blind. But if he's pushing that angle with management, then Dame is a willing participant in wasting his prime because frankly, the Blazers need some major changes to elevate themselves into contender status

So, if Dame values loyalty over his prime, and everything he's ever said indicates that's the case, then I'm not buying the wasting prime angle anymore. I don't really like the product Portland is putting on the floor, but as long as Olshey is in charge, this is what we get
Damian is proud that he has made the playoffs all but his rookie year

Im not completely sure why people are enamored with Bogdonavic. He’s never posted a TS% of higher than 55%. Decent shot creator on decent volume, but lacks the size to defend wings. As a cheaper alternative to CJ, maybe, but not as a starting SF.

I like Moses, but he seemed kind of jittery out there and I understand Stotts didn't want to risk the humiliation of losing this game at home. Hopefully he can give him more minutes in another game.

The first one. I would say your placement of “easily” is probably correct but awkward. These are all possible and sound better to me:
Lillard easily would have had a triple double...
Lillard would easily have had a triple double...
Lillard would have had a triple double easily...
Okay thabk you!

One of the problems I saw was he looked physically weak. He could not hold on to a rebound in traffic. He looks like he needs a year in the weight room.

You HAVE to lower you standards.
We can't get prime free agents and All-Stars to Portland via free agency. If you can get guys more talented than Allen Crabbe or Evan Turner with that money then you do it. You don't get easy pieces if you're not in California,Florida,NY or Texas.

This post is stupid. He's a restricted free agent. You're not just overpaying him, you're going to overpay him on top of overpaying him for being a restricted free agent. To even clear that type of room would cost assets, not to mention the fact that you still run the risk of Sac matching.

This post is stupid. You don't know the future. We don't even know if SAC wanted\wants to extend him and for what price, we don't know his market value around the league either.

And also, i'm curios, where's the risk in SAC matching? it screws them over, not us.

TBH i'm not high on Bogdanovic either...

The stupid part was assuming it was about standards.

This is a great point.
But the fact is he did use it and defenses did adjust to it. It is literally the second line on his scouting report.

I disagree. All too often I see the big on their heels waiting for Simons to drive.
I guarantee you when Simons was in high school he could beat anyone to the rim even if they were on their heels.
Now that he's in the NBA he needs to realize people are just as athletic as he is. So beating them to the rim isn't going to happen.

I'm pretty sure anyone talking about the heavy minutes Dame is playing isn't talking about one night in which he had a historical performance. That would be like talking a pitcher out in the middle of a no hitter. What people are referring to are the numerous times Dame has been in the games late into the 4th quarter when the team is down 20 points. It's okay though because Stotts said they did a study and Dame was fine to play 38 minutes a game because Wilt did.

Well i would think it's easier for a 6'3" player in phenomenal shape than a guy that is 7'+ and was a huge womanizer having sex all the time. :bgrin:
