• The Trail Blazers have the third lowest opposing field goal percentage in the NBA at 43.5%, while the Jazz have allowed opponents to shoot 46.1% (27th in NBA).

• Portland is eighth in the league in scoring at 102.4 points per game, while the Jazz is averaging 95.9 points (23rd in NBA).

• The Trail Blazers rank sixth in the NBA in three-point shooting at 36.8%, while Utah has allowed its opponents to shoot 37.1% from beyond the arc (28th in NBA).

• The Trail Blazers won all four of their games against the Jazz last season, marking the first time in franchise history that Portland swept the season series from Utah.

• After recording just four double-doubles through his first 18 career regular season games against Utah, LaMarcus Aldridge has now accomplished that feat four times in his past five matchups against the Jazz.

• In 15 career games against the Jazz (all starts), Wesley Matthews is averaging 18.7 points per game and has produced double-digit scoring in 13 consecutive regular season matchups. Matthews has also made 3+ three-pointers in seven of his 15 career games against Utah.

Game 49, POR v. UTH (17-30, 8-16 away), 2/3/15
UTH: 4th in Northwest Division, 14 1/2 games back

Our Last Game: L @ MIL, 95-88, 1/31/15
ESPN said:
Jared Dudley scored 18 points and O.J. Mayo had 17 off the bench to help the Bucks beat the struggling Portland Trail Blazers 95-88 on Saturday night.

Damian Lillard and Wesley Matthews scored 19 points apiece for Portland. LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers, who have lost three straight and eight of 10.
"It was a tough back-to-back and I thought after the loss last night in Atlanta it was going to be a tough place to play tonight," Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. "Milwaukee is playing very well, and their defense showed what they have been doing all year."
Aldridge had to deal with double-teams from the Bucks that generally kept him contained, and Lillard couldn't capitalize on his opportunities, shooting 6 for 19 from the field.
"It's been a tough month," Lillard said. "I'd rather it be this month than next month or March. I think we can learn something from it."
The Bucks held the Trail Blazers to 37.1 percent from the floor, which tied Portland's lowest shooting percentage in a game this season.
"It's been a tough stretch for us, there's no sugar-coating it," Matthews said. "We're not playing well. We're not doing what we're supposed to do. But, with stretches like this, we've got the talent to overcome it, and we're going to."

Their Last Game: W v. GSW, 110-100, 1/30/15
ESPN said:
The Warriors struggled defensively for the third straight game as Gordon Hayward led the Jazz to a 110-100 upset against the league's highest-scoring team.
It was the Jazz's first win in three tries against the Warriors.
Hayward scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and showed no lingering effects from sinus congestion that held him out of practice Thursday and affected him in a loss to the Clippers on Wednesday. He added six assists and three steals.
"It was good to see (Hayward) get energized and get some of his juice back," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "I think he's always risen to a challenge in a matchup. He played really well and played really hard. ... The biggest thing is his rebounding."
The Jazz got a huge lift from the bench with 17 points from Trevor Booker and 15 from second-year point guard Trey Burke, who might have had his best game since moving to the bench with seven assists and one turnover.
"We all know that we're going to get the minutes," Burke said. "We got to go out there and produce, though. It's about we, not me.
"Specifically on the defensive end. We have to have each other's backs. You can talk a lot about the offense from the bench, but defense is what started it."The Jazz bench players scored 28 of the team's 56 first-half points and finished with 51. ... The Jazz finished their four-game homestand 2-2. ... Dante Exum went to the locker room in the third quarter after being hit in the throat by an elbow. He returned to the bench later that quarter and to the game midway through the fourth quarter.

Injuries: POR - Freeland (out), Crabbe (day-to-day)

Matchups:
Lillard v. Exum (8.9ppg, 3.8apg, 2.5rpg)
Matthews v. Ingles (7.3ppg, 4.5apg, 3.9rpg)
Batum v. Hayward (19.7ppg, 5.1rpg, 4.3apg)
Aldridge v. Favors (18.5ppg, 9.9rpg)
Lopez v. Kanter (18.6ppg, 10.1rpg)

Power Rankings
ESPN (19)
Not a bad little January for Derrick Favors, who had six double-doubles and hiked his PER to a robust 22.37. The Jazz, meanwhile, are quietly up to a passable 11-11 since their rough 6-19 start after capping the month with that memorable Friday night undressing of the mighty Warriors.
NBA.com (20) Pace: 92.9 (28) OffRtg: 102.9 (15) DefRtg: 106.1 (27) NetRtg: -3.2 (23)
The Jazz are making their way through a tough stretch of schedule and are obviously still a few steps from putting it all together, especially in the backcourt. But Friday's win over the Warriors was a taste of their potential. Gordon Hayward (26 points, 15 rebounds, six assists) played like a star and their four-man frontline was strong from top to bottom.
CBS Sports: (20) Utah is getting better every month. It won't show in the record but it does show in how it plays and in its quality wins, like its shocker over Golden State this week.

I haven't seen another basketball forum which has better game thread templates, and this is part of what makes s2 so great.

Big ups for doing this game after game, month after month, year after year. Keep up the good work! Thank you!!

Time to fix the roster, web! Throw ribbon up there!

I'm more excited to see the fans go crazy about rolo being back than I am to watch us play the jazz.

Five games until the All-Star Break ... We need at least three. Let's go!

Phil Jackson used to say a mark of an elite team is winning 40 before losing 20.

We did it last season, but this year might be a bit difficult.

Please let Lopez make the difference we're all hoping he will!

I think itll be an awkward first few games while everyone gets used to playing with a defensive center again.

I imagine he will only play 20 minutes but Im sure every Blazer fan will take what they can get

I think Rolo returning even if he plays 15 minutes is a huge morale booster for the other guys. He's vocal on the court so fewer mistakes on defense. The Kaman Golbert matchup is the one I want to see.

41-16 at the end of the month. Book it.

With rolo back, we are at home, we play a team with a losing record and we have to escape the 8 0f 10 loss schnied. Win Don't think loss

I agree and we should all rep him every game for his effort...there I repped him..step it up fans!

For some reason Im so jacked for this game... just wish I didn't have this stupid cough. And that it wasn't the first game back from an eastern trip... hope they don't come out sluggish!

Raise your hand if you somehow still thought Corbin was coaching the Jazz and had no idea who the heck the coach was now. (Or, raise half a hand if half of this is true)

No Violet Palmer, no Scott Foster..I like the odds!

Or raise it half massed if you really didn't give a shit either way

I knew Corbin was out but I'll admit I have to look up the new guy's name everytime.

It's been 10 days since our last win ... Please take it to the Jazz tonight, Blazers!
