I wouldn't call it shenanigans unless they claim he's injured. Teams can elect to not play somebody. Houston isn't playing John Wall

been 4 or 5 instances over the last 2 or 3 season where teams have just told players to stay home

It’s probably like the situation in Houston with Wall. I don’t think they’re lying about him not being 100% but he would be playing if he were on a non tanking team. I’m guessing they don’t wanna buy him out because they wanna have the option of using his contract in a trade.
