Personal I don't mind CJ but with his handles this guy could get players involved more there more in a game then just scoring. But right now he not complete offense player because his handles he should get 6-7 assist a game this why I don't like his game.

You're the one cherry picking with all these advanced stats of years he didn't even play much. The bottom line is this. The game is about scoring and his scoring goes up in the playoffs the last 3 seasons. Also- you only play so many Game 7s in your career (Jordan played in only 3). CJ played in a Game 7 on the road in Denver. He crushed that game. It is the only time Denver has lost a game 7 at home ALL TIME. When a chance to reach the WCF was on the line, CJ delivered. There have been 133 Game 7s all time and only 28 of them have been won by the road team. I'm sure if we win the title this year, you'll point to this year's playoffs as a small sample size.

So no, you're wrong. You refuse to mention his PPG because your argument goes up in smoke if you do.

Again...those first two playoffs of his DO NOT drag his numbers down by any significant level. And I'm not cherry picking because I'm including all his games

AND, his PPG goes up because his FGA goes up even more. A simple direct ratio. CJ in the regular season has averaged 1.183 points/shot. In the playoffs, he's averaged 1.153 points/shot. In his first two playoffs, he averaged 1.154 points/shot. His TS% in his first two playoffs was .532; in all his playoffs it was .532. No change

Not going to bring out any stats, just that @wizenheimer used a bunch of different stats providing a more wholistic perspective.

Using just PPG is advantageous to a volume shooter as is doesn’t take into account effectiveness or any other aspect of their game.

Yes we’re happy CJ managed to have one great game 7. However, using one game as a barometer of overall long-term value to a team is deceptive and ludicrous.

You talk about eliminating outliers (2014-2015 playoffs) and then use a single game as your shining example of value rather than a whole body of work.

well said gramps, and the irony is that he actually proved my point that I explicity brought up in that longer post about CJ's playoff record:

now, the playoffs are going to generally depress numbers for players, but those are kind of significant drops. And some critical context is that in the playoffs, teams twist their defenses to stop Dame, which leaves CJ mostly single-covered. He should be able to draft really well off of Dame's wake. That makes those drops even more significant. I think CJ is getting a ton of credit for that game 7 against the Nuggets, and that's warping perceptions about his playoff prowess

and that is the exact argument he made

I thought it was a call, but I didn't know why there was foul shots.

Will all got to say why bother having a report when never change anything. So all NBA saying bad call but sorry it made you loose your still got L in the lost column. Maybe the Nba need start fining these official when cost the other team a lost.

Yup. The entire thing is a farce. What good is providing that report if they don't provide any kind of a follow up on what actions are being taken?

If there's such a thing as a great loss, this was it. The defensive intensity was as good as I've seen this season and all kinds of young bench players had terrific games on both sides of the ball. I'm proud of the way this team fought. I question the last 33.8 seconds of play (IMO we should have gone for a 2 for 1 so we had more time with the last shot), but the fact we had a chance to win was a miracle.

This is kinda like saying the Blazers would've won the championship if the Lakers, Spurs, and Warriors didn't exist.

To your last statement, which is made by many, also requires an assumption that CJ at least maintained the level of play he started the first 12 games with. History, including the remainder of this season, does not suggest this to be likely.

I've offered to wager with anyone who feels CJ just got unlucky for the last 8 years that he will not be an all-star for the Blazers next year. Nobody ever wants to take me up on that wager and I think it's pretty clear why: They don't believe it is more likely than not to happen either.
Only one team wins the title each year. About 6 guards make the AS team each year. There have been 3 top MVP guards in the West the last several years. That is not a usual occurrence. Find another 5 year stretch where one conference had 3 MVP guards. I’m not sure it’s ever happened. So the competition has been unusually high. But with Westbrook and Harden going east this season, the door was open for CJ who has a higher PER on the season than Conley and Booker, both of whom made it.

Great post

George was defended well in second half until that last run HE made. Terry should have gone back to DJJ and or Roco or Nas at the end. All they needed was a single goddamn stop. Melo really should have sat.
They should been in before that but due to Lue didn't call a timeout and they went with it and got the call at end and found out the ref blow it.

I agree... CJ doesn't have to be the best in the West, he just has to be in the top 6... he hasn't done that one time in 8 years. That's kinda my point.
