Will Lillard score 30+ points for the 5th consecutive game?

Don't think so. Giving him those post touches takes away our ball movement and heavy perimeter focus. He's not much of a passer, even out of double teams.

I'd rather get a P&R rim runner who can also protect the rim on D.

Brolo is a beast, though. Just don't think he's a good fit with our squad.

Brook always has some of the best rim protection advanced stats year over year. He's a great rim protector if he's actually there to contest the shot. And his floater/10 foot shot game would be perfect for Lillard and McCollum penetration. Posts ups can be used as a last resort/mix it up type of play.

But yeah, against certain teams it would be hard to play him 30+ minutes.

care to share now?

They held events all over Toronto instead of in the downtown area. Players were lost and late to everything. Many of the players events were billed for fans but only press was allowed in (Wade shoe debut was one example). Flights and hotels overbooked, people were sleeping in airport, it was 14 degrees there. Many cities have volunteers to help guide people and give directions during big events. Toronto didn't do anything like that.

Fun fact: Don't get Looez for his defense at the rim; Dame was 7-11 from 2pt range, because he is getting Corleone-level respect. 12-12 from the line iirc.

I will say though, Dame got some Harden-esque calls tonight. I guess that's what happens when your team is hyped and your facing a literal nobody of a team.

A couple of superstar calls for sure. But Lopez was getting Shaq calls so whatevs.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are the second Trail Blazers teammates to score 30+ points each in back-to-back games (Petrie/Wicks, 1973).

This might also sound crazy but I actually wouldn't count out Cliff Alexander as a possibility next year. He's not tall but he's just as long as Ed Davis and is much stronger. His game in theory is what we need: strength, rebounding, rim protection and not needing the ball.

Damn Canucks

ESPN highlights.

"There's Damian Lillard. He's always good isn't he?"
Dame and the Blazers are getting some nice press!

OMG, did you just see that Priceline commercial on NBATV? Man, Latrell Sprewell must REALLY need money.

BNM

Funny because I remember a few people slagging him on this board. Maybe this performance has opened a few eyes.

Yeah but I think that all had to do with how much he makes AND his injury issues. Not sure many questioned what a great offensive player he is when healthy. The interesting part is although he had two seasons where he played less than 20 games, the rest of his career he has been pretty dependable. He sure looked good tonight, especially when he is allowed to clear space with his left arm.

I love Ed to death but he's small for a center.

Luckily the west only has one center (Cousins) where that is even an issue. And he likes to stay outside. Maybe two if we count Towns.

The East has about four. (Lopez, Vucevic, Okafor, Drummond)

I may be missing some. I do think we need one huge big on the roster for those few match ups, but I would not waste too much money on one. (Grab someone like Mozgov)

At 201 points Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are the highest scoring backcourt in the NBA this season in 3 consecutive games.

Was in attendance tonight ... Here are some game thoughts:

- It's tough to keep up the intensity for a full 48, which is why I'm not too upset we let Brooklyn creep back in the game
- Lillard and McCollum were simply amazing ... We went 21 years as a franchise without a backcourt duo each scoring 30+ and these two have accomplished the feat in back to back games!
- Our pick and roll defense needs a ton of work ... First we made Shelvin Mack look like an All-Star, now it was Shane Larkin
- Why did we not swarm Brook Lopez like we've done in the past to DeMarcus Cousins? Brook is not known for his passing skills and we don't have a post defender capable of handling him one on one in the post.
- Would it hurt to trap the ball handler on the pick and roll once in a while?
- Botton line: A win is a win but these past two games are worrisome in terms of our pick and roll defense.
