This is a bad team, I don't think it's debatable at this point. They were a total S show yesterday, turning the puck over constantly, couldn't get out of their own zone for VERY long stretches, and they had 15 shots all game (Pens had 39). It was an awful performance and made it very clear this team needs to be sellers. They won because Igor made some big saves, and the Pens are even worse and have a goalie who shouldn't be in the NHL and played very poorly. Look at how they performed against the Sabres and Pens, the two worst teams in the East, the past two games, should tell you all you need to know about this team.
I think there is a difference between a rebuild and being sellers at the trade DL to set the team up to be back near the top next season. The moves Drury makes over the next 11 days should be focused on next season (and beyond), not quick fixes for this season with a bad team that is going nowhere even if they slip in as a WC. That is not a rebuild, it's being smart for next season when they can be a legit contender. A great start towards that goal was trading for Miller, which was a very good move. He's our best player, has 8 points in 7 games, and plays exactly the style of game we are missing every season. You add a few more of those style players to go with Miller, Cuylle, and Trocheck and you have something next season.
For this season, be smart Drury, please.
