• LAST MEETING: Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic combined to score 89 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Nets, 127-125, in Brooklyn on Nov. 24, 2017. Lightning does strike twice. Two years in a row, Portland's last game before the All-Star break has been against Golden State, and two years in a row the Blazers have come out victorious.

It was such a fantastic win that Stotts was handing out cupcakes in the lockerroom after the game. I assume he was inspired by Evan Turner, who often hands out confectionaries of another kind during games (turnovers).

The season long, 23-game losing streak when trailing after 3Q has finally ended. Phew! Glad to get that monkey off our back, and so much sweeter that it was against the Whiny Warriors.

Speaking of streaks, Portland is still undefeated when Seth scores over 9 points. So maybe Stotts should get the man more shots.

Last year's victory against Golden State before the All-Star break was the beginning of a 13-game win streak. I know a repeat of that happening is almost impossible (especially since the next 7 games will be on the road), but it would marvelous if the Blazers could string a least a few wins in a row. The longest winning streak has been 4 this season, which is nothing to write home about.

In Playoff positioning, we are still 4th in the West. Feels like we've been 4th for a while now. Houston is still breathing down our necks, being just 1 game behind in the 5th slot. We need to create some separation by winning some of these road games in the second stanza of the season, and that starts here. Let's go!

After this tough 8 game stretch, Portland will be the favorite in 12 of the 13 following games (the only one that shouldnt be favored in is the San Antonio game).

I expect the team to go 4-4 followed by 10-3, which would leave them at 48-30.

Nice line. I assume that Stotts was inspired by Durant, the king of cupcakes.

Last time the Blazers had some time off they came back looking like they had forgotten how to play basketball.

Most years they are bottomfeeders, but are now over .500. We are under .600. So we would take them for granted and lose, except that the Blazers will be energized to play against Davis, Napier, and Crabbe. I think that extra spark will overcome our overconfidence.

CJ had the most distinct turnover (steal) when the game was in the 80's, and on our side of the court, I believe. He blew the D coverage when he was scored on too. If Evan Turner played like that everyday, I would actually venture to say his contract is acceptable.
Look out the Nets are relevant as an NBA team this month, so far.....

Je-Sus-Christ!!!!??? Are you being serious FAMS?
I obviously know the current break is because of the All star break, but that stretch in early February where it felt like they played one games in 9 days, felt so strange for the middle of the season. I kind of wonder if that contributed to losses? Had to get them out of their rhythm a bit.

Then I guess it's a good thing everyone will be out of rhythm this time.

So if it happened once then it will always happen? Not sure what point you are trying to make as every game is different.

Why the fuck are we not playing for so many days in a row?

All star break....no teams play till Thursday. Some have to wait till Friday or Saturday.

The Nets have 30 wins? What?

Weren't they a lottery team last year?

And good news.......Kanter plays like a mad man against the Nets....at least, he did when he was on the Knicks:

I have a feeling that arena is going to be overflowing with boos when he takes the court. :biglaugh:

I might been expecting big game for Davis against Leonard and Zach on the boards but the problem is he will go against Kanter that busted Allen and Davis ass when he was a Knick.

You're not kidding. Kanter goes ape shit against the Nets.

If we want to win this game, get the ball inside to Nurk and Kanter.

We'll call it.....the Beast-Turkey Connection.

Those authors fucking buried Portland in that article. Fuck the Nets. I hope we kill that team.
No joke, they made us sound like the biggest assholes in the world
What the hell are ya'll talking about? You sound like hyper-sensitive teenage girls...

The article barely even mentioned Portland. They did say Portland made a low-ball offer to re-sign Ed, but that's the truth.

Davis says he likes his situation in Brooklyn and would like to be back. In the meantime, Davis is focused on those Blazers’ games. Considering that Portland implied that he was on the downside of his career, that’s plenty of motivation.

Nobody in Portland ever said that. Utter horseshit.

I did. Again, there was nothing in there to get upset about. I personally think it was fair & accurate.

Maybe you don't know what the word "implied" means?

Portland's actions (Olshey's actions) definitely implied that Ed's contributions were not valued. The narrative was that they wanted to make room for Collins, who is younger and a better fit for Portland's 'time horizon'. This could definitely be viewed by Ed (and those around him) that Portland thought he was on the downside of his career.
