I'll continue to say and feel, nothing changes until at least one of Zibanejad, Kreider, Panarin, K. Miller, Fox go. If all 5 are back next season, and with Drury at the helm I expect that to be the case, I really don't see much changing. Just like I said after the Florida loss, this team needs a major core shakeup. Dealing/getting rid of guys like Chytil, Kakko, and even Goodrow is nice, but it's the core 5 I mentioned that needs to be shaken up. I highly doubt it happens, but it needs to if this team wants to change their identity and move forward.
Blaming the coach is lazy and easy. That's not to say Lav has done a good job this season, he has not with his lines and ice time breakdown, but if people really feel he's the main issue here I guess you haven't watched this same core of players do this over and over again for years now.
As I keep saying, fire Lav after the season, I'm okay with that, when a team struggles like the Rangers have despite higher expectations, the coach has clear accountability. But unless Drury also goes, which he won't, and the core changes, which it won't with Drury running the show, it is a HUGE waste of time, just like going from Gallant to Lav was. Rinse and repeat, it's the coach it's the coach. Stop blaming every coach and start placing the blame where it belongs.
