But it's kind of a shady question and it has already been answered. Hood and Collins are the Blazers "Starting Forwards" and yes those two players are high quality but have only really played 5 games starting together. (4 1/2 if you are counting) Another thing here. Jusuf Nurkic is the starting Center. Until he is playing you won't truly know what this roster can do. All summer people talked about how valuable Whiteside will be when he and Nurkic are both playing. We have yet to see this roster play. Talk about how talented it is, is a bit premature. In my opinion.
I agree with a ton of what you said. I'm guessing you jumped in the middle of the debate which is why you find my question shady. My entire point is that when you roll out a team whos' starting forwards would likely rank bottom 3 in the league, you're open to having shooting nights like tonight. I think to jump on any one player or coach for the poor defense and shooting the last two games is very short-sighted.
I have never objected to the fact that Hood and Collins were designed to being the starting forwards. I would object to the fact that those two would be in the top 20 of starting forward combinations in the league. Whiteside (not the long term plan) is also a below average starting center. When your entire front court is below average, you're going to look below average many nights.
