Love will drive you crazy, but he also has no conscience, and sometimes in basketball you need guys like that.

You always need guys that don't live in their last possession, either, or become gunshy after a miss or two. What was it Maravich said? Each time I miss it increases the odds I'll make the next one.

Love rose to the occasion tonight. Even has me wondering if they might give him a shot at starting next game, when he very well might shoot 1-12 again.

But what I really loved as much as the scoring? Five assists. One turnover. And seven rebounds. He played within himself, and succeeded.

Man, I love beating the Warrios.
Man I can’t stand players like that but microwave players can really come in handy and help change games. Come playoff time something to keep in mind if you need someone to maybe change momentum in a game you send him in for a stint to see if microwave is working

The radio guys were saying that the previous game when Deni had 11 assists, he actually had enough potential assists in that game to break Scott Skiles assist record with 28 assists if our guys could have just made wide open shots. I found that amazing. Deni is a hell of a player

Career high 13 assists last night. Dude ran everything we did successfully. Shame they didn't reward him with the and 1s he deserved.

those are the kinds of factoid projections that seem like nonsense to me

I'd bet that any player who has averaged 7 assists or better over multiple seasons has had dozens of games when "potential assists" broke the Skiles record....if only teammates had perfect shooting games. Dame has had 84 games with 11 assists or more; Jrue has had 185; CP3 has had 605. Deni has done it 12 times. Jokic is averaging 19 potential assists a game. What Deni has done, assist-wise, in the last 2 games has been really impressive. It doesn't get more impressive in a fantasy world where nobody misses a shot

This is the Clingan I want to be seeing. He's been great the last 4 games.
yeah, he's been awesome the last 4 games; but contrary to a lot of the Clingan-bashing around here he's been pretty good all season. Yeah, he's had a couple of stinker games, but so has every Blazer

personally, prior to the 2024 draft, I didn't want the Blazers in invest a 7th pick on Clingan. I was really skeptical about the overall impact of slow, big, drop-coverage C's in the 'new' NBA. I still am skeptical, which is why the Yang selection baffled me so much. I think the Blazers screwed up the last draft

anyway, Clingan's play last season altered my perspective quite a bit. His paint defense, rim protection, and rebounding, especially on the offensive glass was all high impact. I think he had an adjustment period for the scheme changes this season, and different systems, but he's been slowly improving until he started having the types of games he's had in the 10 days or so

if you sort rankings for the 10 Blazers who have played more than 100 minutes:

then, Clingan is 2nd in offensive and defensive rating (behind Timelord); 3rd in PER; obviously 1st in rebound rate and 3rd in the NBA in offensive rebound rate; 1st in winshares/48; 5th in OBPM; 5th in DBPM; and 4th in BPM

Portland would be a deep lottery team without him

Yeah, the drive and dish by several players (Deni, Sidy, Love, etc) to Clingan was nice to see. His hands look much better. Or maybe the passes are just better; regardless, it was working. 27 minutes for Clingan and 21 for Williams against a team that often makes playing traditional centers difficult to keep on the floor.

Love was intriguing last night. He seems to play better with the starters. (Especially Deni) He has no conscience about shooting at any time (or anywhere), which can look great and bad in the same game. But what was really encouraging was his vision on a few passes. He actually looked like he could develop into a decent backup PG. Although with a healthy Jrue, Scoot, Dame, and Wesley, I'm not sure that will happen here. But for this year, he will get some minutes to show what he can do.

I haven't noticed any Clingan bashing. Just wanted him to do a bit more. He's been pretty good all season. His highs last season were really high and of course, being a greedy fan base we want more of that. He can be a real game changer if he keeps it up.

Yeah, I have just wanted him to play inside more and use his size and weight to bully opponents, get easy baskets, and tear down rebounds. He has the last few games and has looked really good.

Shoutout to @THE HCP and the end zone camera folks, they really make the game cinematic. That arena is also fucking huge.
I'm going to be a nerd but there's a certain sunny, slightly overexposed look to the contrast tonight that reminds me of KTVU's (Channel 2 Oakland) broadcasts, which I got to see on cable back when I lived in the butt-end of Oregon. Felt almost nostalgic watching the game. Were the side-on cameras run by the arena or do you bring your own crew for that?
Not sure which cameras you are talking about? Give me some more info.
