One of the Suns G-League team announcers is... Frank Kaminsky! Has he retired already?

Surprised by the negative talk about Tiago. Houston’s damn good and we are on our 4th road game. It’s bound to happen and first time all year we’ve been blown out

Tough loss on the road. Team played with them until the 4th pretty much.
Kind of seemed like they ran out of gas a bit.

In a weird quirk Australia is playing soccer against Venezuela in Houston right now.

Given how the Trail Blazers are going I’ve switched the TV over to the soccer, and pulled up the basketball on the laptop.

I reckon the basketball has a bigger crowd than the soccer.
Team Australia is staying at our hotel!

That’s awesome! I wonder if any of the Socceroos caught up with Duop (and Tisse if he’s on the road)?

If you have the opportunity, you should definitely get Irankunda’s signature, he’s going to be a gun.

Are you really that surprised? People in here are so frickle, one week he looks like a good coach they say, the next week they talk negative.

We aren’t allowed to have any bad games apparently or the negative peeps will speak up about how we should do this and that.

I blame ownership.

Ime Udoka should be coaching the Blazers... Missed opportunity to hire the smartest basketball mind I've ever been around.
Lmao that “you’ve” been around..

Gosh I didn’t know you’re opinion was so important in here to others…

You keep beating this dead horse, but Kris is actually one of our better players this game. Toumani managed to be -27 while Kris was +1 in 21 minutes. I'm really not seeing what you're seeing.
Plus-minus can be a very misleading stat. Murray isn't an average NBA player. The eye test shows it. The statistics show it. Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion, but guys who panic whenever they have the ball are going to have an uphill battle achieving much in the pros.

And, yeah, a couple of things about Toumani.

First, he hasn't played as well this year as he did last year.

Second, I didn't carry water for him, so using the argument about what he did to defend Murray's poor play is just weird.

Third, Toumani's going to be in most of the game when Durant is in because he's the obvious one to defend KD. Except nobody defend's KD when KD's on. Hence the point about plus-minus being misleading. It only measures how one plays to a certain point. Part of it also is who you are playing with and who you are playing against. Fouling at the end of the game can adversely affect it. Playing big minutes in a bad matchup can adversely affect it.

Murray's ask to do very little in this rotation and still struggles to do it.

Finally, I think I post about Murray's issues once every several games as warranted. When he played well earlier in the year, I gave him credit. When I said before the year that if he came in and just shot a decent average, it would be a big bonus for this team. If it seems I'm beating a dead horse about Murray now, it's because he's not playing well and because you decided to make defending him a major issue. Otherwise, I'd have posted once about it and that'd have been it.

EDIT: Oh heck @Rastapopoulos, the post I made giving Murray his flowers was a thread YOU started early this year -- the Murray appreciation thread -- that said we owed him an apology. Now things make sense.

I don't know why you feel like you need to try and humble me, but whatever. :dunno:

You don't know me. Also, I never said my opinion was more important than anyone else's, you did.

That said, I've lived in Portland all my life. I've refereed basketball since 2003. I've refereed over 10,000 basketball games and counting. I've coached middle school ball since 04'. In 2009 I became a Certified Coach with USA basketball. I got that certification in Las Vegas. It was administered by Geno Auriemma and Frank Wright. I have refereed a number of NBA/WNBA players. I've refereed 2 NBA champions. I know most of the current boys varsity coaches in the Portland Metro area, and they know me. Many of the girls coaches too.

My mentor is former NBA Referee Bobby McAllister. He retired from NBA refereeing and became an evaluator. I've been coached, counseled, and evaluated by host of NBA and WNBA referees that are currently refereeing.

So, just because you don't know me doesn't mean that others don't. I played against Ime in HS and I know him personally. Again, IMO he is the smartest basketball mind that I've ever met...

First, it's "your" opinion...

Did you see how you got checked by @HailBlazers before I even had a chance to respond? Lmao you can't make this up.

Or...Or... Stay with me now...

Just maybe people understand exactly what they want in a head coach. Just maybe there are some people in here who understand coaching and don't think he's our answer. Maybe that's it.

I'd replace him with Mike Malone in a heartbeat. Mike malone knows how to design an offense that puts his best player in the best position to be the best he can be while making all the others around him better. Tiago can't even seem to rein in bad shots.

Wouldn't an average NBA player be a decent rotation player? Apparently Derrick Jones Jr. is "the most average" NBA player, and I'd put Murray around his level. And I don't know about your eyes but the thing that stands out to me when I watch is that he's not often caught out of position so he's not going to fuck up your defense. That's surprisingly rare and thus a valuable quality. He's also actually a more reliable finisher around the rim than Toumani.

I get this point but hear me out on this a bit also.
We've seen Splitter as head coach now for what? 10 games or so? He also only just started with the team 5 months ago as an assistant.
I think maybe we should give him a bit more time to see where he goes with this.
I do agree there are probably better coaches but I'm not sure they were better after getting promoted into the job the way he was and essentially thrown to the wolves. Ime had almost 10 years as an assistant with most of those under Popovich. Then there is Michael Malone. he certainly didn't do well with the Kings his first stint as a head coach.
I fully expect Thiago Splitter to have some growing pains.

FAMS, you don’t need to share your resume with people on here. You know what you know, no need to prove anything.
