In your opinion, who's the better coach?

If there was an elbow touched or a hand on hip the wrong ref called it. The rear ref who had the angle didn't call anything.

If that's a foul Dame should be shooting 20 free throws per game. Absolute BS call at that point in the game.

Yeah that call never gets made? Seriously? I could see it maybe during the middle stretches of a game but even then it would get picked apart. Never should you see that call on the last play of a game to decide the game by free throws.
Blazers need to never leave a game in the refs hands.

Portland is 1-10 against the top-4 seeds in the west and the one win came when Utah was missing their starting back court

looks kind of bad to me

If we're factoring in player availability, how many of those games were played with all of our top 3-4 players? And were those games close or blowouts?

I think you're right. The ref guessed there was a foul and was lucky replay did show some minor contact, even though it was probably not any of the contact he thought he saw.

Before we all take long walk on short pier, yes, heartbreaking loss. But does it portend horrible things for the Blazers? A one point game always has element of luck. Had Suns not missed three late free throws Blazers wouldn't have had the lead. Ticky tack fouls called and others missed. There are things a team can control and things they can't.

Concentrate on what you can and make your goddamn free throws.

To be fair we still haven't been better in limited sample sizes if we are just going with our current rotation. We are 0-1 against Denver (whom were without Murray), 0-2 against Clippers (we were without Dame for 1 game, but they were without Kawahi that same game so its a wash), 1-1 against Utah and now 0-1 against Phoenix. So 1-5.

With the current lineup (including Powell) we have played three of these games - win at Utah, and 1-point losses to Denver and Phoenix. Obviously had those been wins we'd all be feeling much better about things.

I still cant' phantom how Nurk played 26 minutes and couldn't muster 1 offensive rebound. Plus him loosing his cool and getting that Tech hurt at the final score. Lots of blame to go around. Dame missed a FT in the fourth. Easy to blame the loss on one play, when in reality there were plenty of bad plays during the game that caused the loss.

Like I said he doesn't do well on the 2nd of back to backs. He didn't play in most of those this season because Stotts chose to rest him. Obviously we needed him to play last night. Without Ayton, PHX went small and it worked against Nurk.

They played small and he still couldn't get a rebound? he should have feasted on the smaller players and been able to get at least one offensive rebound. Against SA on the second night of a back to back he was able to grab 6.

the question 'was Portland bad against the top teams in the west', and the record is still 1-10; excuses or not; and half were blowouts...20, 23, 32, 5, 6, 17, 19, 1, 1, 1. Much better lately but still losing more than winning. Those 1 point losses are kind of interesting too; for instance, Portland lost by 1 against the Clippers at the Moda in a game Dame didn't play. But neither did Kawhi, Patrick Beverly, & Ibaka. Portland lost by 1, at the Moda, to Denver when Blazers had their full team healthy; Denver was without Murray of course, but I guess since he's out for the rest of the year, that was Denver's full team. And last night they lost to Phoenix who was playing without Ayton and Cam Johnson.

besides all that, over the last 3 seasons, it's always been the injury excuse. At a certain point, that excuse becomes a team flaw

I'm not disputing that Portland has looked much better over the last 11 games. It's been encouraging. But I still believe the flaws we've seen in the team over the last few season are still there, especially on defense. They gave up a defensive rating of 119.5 last night while allowing the Suns to score 22 points on their first 10 fourth Q possessions. The only thing that kept Portland in the game was Dame putting on his cape, once again. So, for me, I have about equal parts of hope and skepticism, especially considering we've seen late season hot streaks in 4 of the previous 5 seasons....Lucy and the football

Look Stotts has to be smart enough to know he's got like a 25% chance at BEST to overturn that call and in challenging it realize there is no chance for a buzzer beater. That is just asinine to me. Fuck the challenge. THINK ! You are putting the game on the refs with that challenge and they are not going to like that and want to overturn it. THINK TERRY!

Side question -

How the actual FUCK do you not get the ball to the guy who can legitimately shoot half court shots like they're a normal three pointer? What the hell were they thinking?

Such a miserable waste of a season. So many winnable games just pissed away. The GM built a bad roster, the coach did a mediocre (or worse) job managing it, and too many of the players were just punching the clock and collecting a check.

I'm glad I bailed. I love Dame, but the rest of the organization from Neil on down is a complete waste.

This is like exactly opposite of what everyone I talked to at work today said about the team and game last night.
Matter of fact the ONLY place I read or hear negative takes are on here or Twitter. The Negative takes seem to all be from the same people over and over again.
Fact is the team has played very well for the last 3 weeks and they are still playing hard. None of them have mailed it in and are just happy collecting a paycheck. That isn't what is happening at all.

Or was this sarcasm? Sorry if it was tongue in cheek?

It was a hell of a game...ton of lead changes....we had too many crucial empty possessions last few minutes to finish it off...CJ bricked a few that turned the game into a one point contest and Dame was hot and should have had the ball at the end...still we played hard and gave ourselves a chance down to the wire. Credit the Suns....they won the game making plays when they had to...was a playoff atmosphere and it would be a fun series if we met them post season

I myself said a few weeks ago (in the "Enough is enough" thread) that my interest in the remainder of the season would correspond directly to Dame's interest in playing defense.

In the past couple weeks, my interest has increased substantially.

One of the POSITIVE traits I like about this team is their persistence.

Now you’re straying into “blind loyalty” territory. Tread carefully……..

We wouldn't want that. People who are blindly loyal tend to have an extremely low IQ, I think. Obviously I'm not talking about anyone on this forum, but blind loyalty tends to show a lack of intelligence and critical thinking, don't you think?
