Yeah, but remember

A: they won game 7 in Denver 2 years ago (with a completely different team)
B: they're missing their starting PF
C: the players didn't blame Stotts for their poor defense
D: I'm sure there's something about him playing young players or something.

The team is too easily taken off their game plan when they double Dame. Have Powell or CJ bring up the ball, and run Dame off of screens. But that would be an adjustment, and Stotts is allergic to those.

This is the thing ... when he's zoned in, he's terrific. He passes the ball. Everyone moves. He gets the ball down low and he makes strong moves. He protects the rim at the other end so guys can be aggressive on the perimeter. He hedges on the high screen and roll and forces the opponent into a third read.

The problem is he's one of those guys that you don't know when you're going to get that or you're going to get the guy who's distracted, who thinks he's a finesse guy. When that Nurk shows up, he's worth less than worthless.

Ironically, that's why he was available for us to acquire, and he'll never probably have a year where you can count on him giving you three good games out of four for an entire season. That's the challenge for whoever coaches him is to get him out of his own head as much as you can.

The sad part is the last two games he hasn't been with it, Kanter hasn't either. We can't win with both of them out to lunch.
