My family all grew up in the Bay Area. My parents were Flower Children during the 60s and 70s; my father once told me that he went to about 100 Grateful Dead concerts in his life, and he's an expert on that band. They were both major hippies, and still are to an extent. Especially my mother, lol, who's always been in touch with nature.

My only surviving Aunt on my mother's side, her sister, married my uncle John as a young woman (long before I was born), and he just retired from a life of service as a Baptist Minster in Arnold, California. So they are deeply religious people, and probably the only Conservatives on that side of the family.

If anyone was destined to grow up a hard-core Liberal, then it was certainly me.

However, I also started Cub Scouts as a child in California, and went into Boy Scouts when we moved up here in 1995. When I was there, I was surrounded, and was mentored by, many former soldiers and Conservative, God-fearing men. In fact, if it hadn't been for them, then there's a possibility my life would have turned pretty ugly, as my home life as a teenager was not stable. My scoutmaster, Dennis, became like a father to me, and I still love and respect the man to this day (should probably stop by and see how he's doing).

Then I went into Explorer Scouts (Vancouver Police) when I was 16, and stayed there until I was 21. I also befriended and admired many of the men and women who ran that Post, and learned my love and respect for Law Enforcement from them. I still occasionally keep in touch with an officer who was like a brother to me (a devout Christian Conservative from Arizona); a friend when I really needed one.

So I guess when you take that broad aspect of my life and look at it entirely, it's easy to see why I'm a Moderate on most issues.

I think it's outstanding that we can tell these stories about ourselves, and relate to one-another on here.

My dad was a staunch conservative Republican. My mom is a liberal Democrat. So I grew up in the middle. I was also in the cub scouts, went till I finished with wolf.

My grandmother was a communist. I have an old Life magazine with her picture picketing the White House demanding stay of execution for Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. So were her two sisters and my parents and my mother's younger sister. My grandfather deserted the Tsarist army (a point of pride in our family).

I have gay cousins both sides of the family tree.

But my parents settled in an ultra-conservative, Republican, WASP conformist suburb in Southern California. Grew up in misery among the right, made me a lifelong rebel. I really don't care if I am the only one who says/does/thinks/feels/acts a given way which is good because I usually am.

Funny, my generation, the 60s, may be the most conservative. Grew up in middle class suburbia and one cousin is an ADA, another a lawyer, an accountant, an HR director, even god forgive a shrink.

One of my biggest regrets was not making it past First Class in Boy Scouts. I really wish I had made it to at least Life rank.

My buddy on the other hand can't hold a job to save his life....decorated and accomplished Eagle Scout.

I don't know why I want to have this argument, but there are no erectile tissue in nipples. Muscle fiber under the areola makes them hard.

On a side note....or side boob, as it were, did you know during sex a womans breast can enlarge by 30% from excitement? Sadly, every woman ive been with always seems to go down a full cup...except Mrs HCP. She just goes down.

lol. I just thought that if I said "Well....except for your nipples and clit", then that would not only be rude, but offensive in the context of this topic and thread.

Contrary to what the media wants you to believe, not everyone who has Right-based views are misogynistic bullies. My parents in particular taught me to be polite to women.

But, by all means....if you want to be treated like everyone else; joked with and teased, then I can certainly do that.
