Should we rest our main rotation players for this game?

  • Yes. We need to tank for the 4th Seed so we can avoid San Antonio

I’m gonna freak out if okc loses and sa wins and we choose to play Utah over San Antonio.

So Dame and CJ are out with load management. Dame rested in last years, last game as well. It's the playoffs so you never know with matchups. I do know this from experience. Dame usually follows a shooting slump period(happening right now) with a lights out dominating period. He's due for that. Just saying. Go Blazers!!

I'm cool with Dame resting. But I feel CJ needs to play to rediscover his timing and touch. Why isn't Kanter getting rest?

No he didn't. He played 37 minutes in our home game vs UTA to seal the #3 seed.

If Dame and CJ are resting, I want Moe fully healthy too. He had a good bounce last night-- need that for the playoffs.

What happened when the team had 5 days off before the Miami Heat home game a couple months ago?

On the other side of things OKC fans are probably begging to play us.

Probably Utah and SAS too
Kind of weird. I have been on a couple forums. People really aren't even talking about Portland at all. The only thing i seem to be able to find is comments on Houston or Denver. For the most part nobody want's to play OKC.

Who can blame them? Even with Nurk, we're still the easy choice out of the top 4. Without Nurk, teams are going to feast on Kanter inside and triple team Dame.

Let's hopefully prove them wrong.

No Dame and CJ so it looks like Blazers are OK to be #4 and face the Jazz

That’s what I’m wondering, pdx plays last right?
Yes. Spurs game is at 5pm and Portland game is at 7.30 pm
In that case Dame and cj have to play, they have to change the plan in that case

The issue is even if Portland wins, the only way we can get 3rd is if Denver also wins. Denver's tip is at the same time as Portland's.

Portland can only guarantee themselves to play Utah (by loosing). All other scenarios are outside of our control.

Sure i can see your point but they also played pretty well after the all star break going 6-1 in the next 7. They lost the next two grizzlies and OKC on a B2B but then won 3 straight after that. Rest is always a good thing.

Yeah but if Mil is up in 4th on OKC when we tip I think you roll the dice that Den beats Minny to keep the 2 seed.

Denver don’t like to see the Rockets if they advance so they will win tonight to get the 2nd seed and hoping Blazers will win too.

Sorry Denver, we are tanking tonight if OKC beats the Bucks.

THANK YOU DARKWEBS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU DID DURING THE REGULAR SEASON GAME THREADS

You're our mvp!

DW- Game Thread title should say WEDNESDAY, not Tuesday. Great thread otherwise. I personally want 3 seed for same reason as Wesley. I agree with Scalma that young guys might win anyway. I believe we can beat OKC. Utah beat us really badly twice this year and they've made it out of the first round two straight years and counting. Spurs would be nice in theory since their backcourt is weak and they're awful on the road. But they have Pop, who yes, has lost in first round many times in his career but could still be tough. OKC has Westbrook who makes lots of mistakes down the stretch of games and I think they'd be overconfident with Nurk out. Plus, Dame averaged 35ppg against them this year. If he does that in playoffs, OKC has no chance. That's my opinion.

Thanks, KS!

And thank you to the moderator that fixed the title for me! :)

In a hotel in Los Angeles Monday night? And if we lost, he'd be sleeping at a hotel in OKC or Utah.

Good grief, do you ever take in the big picture? He was home in his bed for 3 weeks while he we recovering from injury and not traveling with the team. Then he spends one night on the road and is talking about wanting to be home in his own bed. 21 out of the last 22 nights is a lot for an NBA player.

52+ wins does not mean a thing until you win a playoff game.

actually, even that is questionable. Portland could win a game and lose the series 4-1.

I'd say amend it to 52 wins doesn't man a thing unless you win a series...screw just winning a game. Even with Nurk out it would be a drag to have HCA in the first round 2 seasons in a row, and lose both time

Realistically our goal this year is getting out of the first round. I’m glad we’re benching Dame and CJ and focusing on that goal, and not the goal of making the WCF without nurkic.

The only way we’re ever going to attract big name free agents is if we win a playoff series.
