Game of the Year '07

Please vote for the S2 video game of the year for 2007.

I'm being very biased because I love God of War 2, I played it and beat it 3 times on different settings.

I'm being biased, too, since there were a lot of great games, but I really can't say no to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

I still can't go past the fact that it only has one single loading screen (at the beginning of the game) and the word "loading" never comes back up again!

Even Sudoku on the PS3 has longer loading times!

Oh, the game also has a great story, great gameplay with a twist at the end! Not to mention it's a decent sized (as in long) game.

CoD4 is my second favorite of '07.

NBA 2k8 should be up there IMO.

The graphics, the much tougher AI and the improved Season Mode made it a fun sports.

I dunno... I think 2K is very stale right now, personally. Seems like they've gone as far as they can go with the genre.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is as fun as a platformer can get.

And the graphics are nothing to sneeze at, either.

I haven't played most of those games, but COD4 is pretty awesome. The single player is pretty short, but the online play should keep you going for a while. By now I would have been bored with probably any other game, but I still play COD4 very often.

Good call. I don't think anybody is going to vote for Sam and Max so I'll put this one up there instead and add your vote.

Mass Effect. Despite it being a tiny bit buggy, the story, customization, music, and gameplay make it a great experience even on the 3rd play through.

You know, I've heard nothing but great things about Ratchet and Clank Future, this is definitely the next game I'm picking up!

It's just challenging enough to be fun, but is never, ever frustrating.

I actually finished the game and continued playing. I can count on one hand the number of games I can say that about. I don't think I've even finished a game at all since "Knights of the Old Republic".

The controls and camera are both an A+. I never fumbled for buttons even though there are tons and tons of different things you can (and must) do.

I am excitedly looking forward to the next installment!

I love God Of War 2 best game last year IMO.Sucks that I won't play the third one though.

I have to go with Bioshock. I haven't had a game suck me in the way it did. It probably had the best story last year, it was well written with great voice acting. The visuals were absolutely amazing. And most importantly, the gameplay was incredible. While it looks like a shooter, it definitely didn't always play like one. There was a ton of depth to the game due to your ability to interchange weapons as well as plasmids, as well as what to do with the little sisters, either harvesting them or rescuing them. To say the least, if there was a must play game last year, this was it, and I can't wait for either a sequel or just another game from the Bioshock crew.

I absolutely hate Bioshock. When I first bought it; I was pretty excited, but all that diminished after 3-4 days of playing. The visuals are nice, and yet, I didn't like them at all. The whole "old" look just wasn't appealing to me. Other than plasmas, most of the weapons were completely boring. And as for the story, I wasn't a huge fan either.


The point is, in my book, I just wasted good money.

I think Portal was the best game to come out this year. It is one of the most interesting strategy/puzzle games ever made, even if it was originally a college project and not done by a developer.

It is one of the few games that makes you think your way through obstacles. Even Half-Life 2, which has a lot of problem solving, only requires a bit of patience. At times, Portal can be really frustrating until you have an epiphany and then it is satisfying.

The voice acting in the game is awesome, especially at the ending. The story is bare-bones but still engaging. At times the game is really hilarious, too.

I voted last night, but I don't remember what for. It was either Portal or Super Mario Galaxy. Either way, those two are tops in my mind (probably because they're the only ones I've played extensively other than Syphon Filter, which wasn't even all that great).
