Game of Thrones SPOILERS

These next two seasons will be insane if they follow the books, Wheels! Can't say the fourth one will be, and haven't read the newest book yet. Hopefully that doesn't spoil anything.

I'm half way through the third book right now, pretty surprised at how its keeping my interest so well.

Yeah, balls out is the only way to go for GoT. Going from whorehouse fucking to infanticide like that--maybe I Claudius comes close to those sorts of moments. Can't think of much else.

It's so cool to see those book moments actually put on screen. This isn't Lord of the Rings. lol

Still not sure of where Roz fits in, just because she's not in the books. Everything else last night was pretty much straight from the series. The Dontos scene was awesome at the beginning.

Apparently they want to split book 3 into two seasons (good idea if you ask me). Then they can combine 4 and 5 into three more seasons. That'll give GRRM time to write his outline of Book 6. :D

So they're planning on 8-9 seasons of this show? That's a loooong run and I would imagine its exaggerated for a show with such high production value as opposed to a simpler comedy or even something like the Sopranos (which ran 6 seasons) which required little in the way of special effects, fancy sets, tons of actors, etc.

I've got two hundred pages left in the third book, I think I know where they would cut off the first season of book 3 lol.

I'm a little behind this season, but I just finished Ep2 and they've already deviated quite a bit from the book. I don't understand why. I get why they would have to leave stuff out, but why change things?

Bronn as the Commander of the Gold Cloaks?

One of Dany's blood riders killed?

Jon witnesses Craster giving a baby to the Others?

None of this happened, or I don't remember it happening. They've also added a couple other scenes that I thought were stupid, with so much other good stuff actually in the books. Doesn't make sense to me.

I feel dumb for not picking up on the fact that Stannis fucked the Melisandre in the books lol.

They only hinted at it. There never was a part in the second (or third book) where Stannis fucked her. Just rumors mentioned by Davos and others.

Yeah I know they never explicitly said it but there was enough clues that I probably should have figured it out before I watched the show lol.

It's kind of like Renly being gay with Loras. The book only hints at it, but the show just comes out and slaps you in the face with it lol

I never read the books, but MAN! Joffery is a fucking sociopathic piece of shit.

Indeed, and the show doesn't do him justice. To really understand how fucked up he is, you'd have to read the books.

Renly-Loras becomes more and more obvious as the books go on. I swear there was no hints toward that at all in the first book and GRRM just threw it into the second book lol.

And one of the unfortunate translations from the books to the show is that there is much less on Joffrey and more focus on Robb.

I think there might have been some very suttle hints, but you're right. I was completely blindsided when I saw season 1 because I hadn't gotten to the second book yet and I had no idea that Renly was gay.

I thought Tyrion made Bronn Commander of the Gold Cloaks?

No. I can't remember the guys name offhand, but the guy dies in the battle of backwater and then tywin lannister puts his own guy in. Bronn was the head of tyrion's guard I think and then he's knighted after the battle of backwater.

That's right. I guess I wasn't reading too closely. I'm a little past halfway through the 3rd book. The 2nd and 3rd book are bleeding together so I can't remember what happens in what book.

Wait until the 4th and 5th books, which is really one book.

I'm just really not enjoying the second season of the show. I thought the first season was very true to the book, but this season is all over the place.

Now that I know what is coming, it doesn't seem as fun as Season One. Oh well, hopefully the Red Wedding will redeem this season for me.

Ah the Red Wedding... you know what pissed me off about that? It is maddening how he keeps the Starks apart. Arya gets close, and then BOOM something gets in the way. I was kind of reading through the wedding to get to the part where Arya sees Robb and her mother, and then I get to the part where shit goes amiss. I actually had to go back and re-read the part leading up to the Red Wedding to see what was going on. It's like the author has a real hate on for that family. He's sending us a message. Don't be honorable because you'll get fucked over every time.

The Qarth scenes are cool. It's nice to see Dany in something other than horseskins and dirt all over her face. Theon's about to take over Winterfell, which should be fun, too.

Red Wedding was mid-way through the 3rd book I believe. Doubt they'll make it that far this season.

On a similar note, I thoroughly enjoyed the second book but the third book was just a lot more fun. In the second book there is a massive build up to the Blackwater Bay battle and very little happens or gets resolved. In the 3rd book you get major changes coming fast and furious.

And yeah Arya's journey in the 3rd book is pretty fugged up. She kept going back and forth between Harrenhall, Acorn Hill, and finally Riverrun. Looking at the map in the book all these things are relatively very close to one another, yet she kept getting jerked around and got nowhere for the entirety of that book.

True, but they're kind of jumping ahead in other areas, and if they follow the books' seasons, that's a lot of time and money to spend on 5 seasons. I'm just curious to see Theon as Reek, so I want them to jump ahead in that plot line. Every time I look at Theon now, all I can think is of what he becomes. :)

Yep, mid-way through the 3rd book. Just read it today! I agree with Natebishop3, the Starks are getting a total screw job. I was shocked and saddened when I read those chapters. I took a break to get other things done after it, so I don't know how things pan out, but it's definitely not a "good guys always win" type of book. Makes for good reading!
