Agreed on TWD. Like Sons of Anarchy, it's really just a soap set in a harder universe. Neither show lives up to its potential.

That being said, the episode on Sunday better be a blast. They've been building it up for weeks.

Also, if anyone here watched TV in the 90s, they'll enjoy this. Maybe it's already been posted in this thread?

Dinklage just won himself another Emmy with the 'Blackwater' episode, IMO. He was fucking awesome in it, and the authority that he relayed as Tyrion during the wildfire and battlement was just incredible acting.

Looking back, it's hard to fault Aaron Paul for winning in this category. Playing Jesse last year on BB must have been a mindfuck every day.

Patrick Klepek of Giantbomb said it best, it seems like it should be a lot better than it really is.

The problem with Walking Dead is that AMC still won't put up the money to make it what it should be in terms of visuals.

The should have just called S2 "On a Farm with Zombies Somewhere in the Distance". That, and I can't stand the actress who plays Rick's wife, as well as the kid who plays his son.

If TWD was an HBO show, it would be incredible. It's still good, though I haven't watched this season because I fell behind early and will have to catch up over the summer.

So... The Walking Dead finale was horrible, and GOT kicked ass. This was to be expected the way WD is though.

Seems like AMC really enjoys dicking around with their heavy hitting shows. Breaking Bad and Mad Men were both in nasty negotiations with them a few years ago and both basically resulted in the show creators agreeing to do two final seasons and ending them even though that wasn't their vision.

AMC has an embarrassment of riches, I guess they're confident they can keep finding/creating these shows...and dumping them before they've gotta give out big time raises for everyone.

...well, the season premier was a nice little refresher -- but could have been a lot less boring!

yeah..as good as book three was, I had expected the opener to be a lot better. One and two were good as far as following the books, so much happens in the third book, I think it will be hard to cram it all in ten episodes, just like how book four and five build up to six.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop out of sync with the books entirely. Can you imagine them actually cutting out half of their cast for season 4? I've got to imagine they're at least strongly considering reuniting the two sets of plot lines from 4 and 5, and making their own season splits over the next few seasons.

The New England Patriots of television networks?

hmm that seems reasonable, you could end one season at the red wedding, in book three and around The Kingslayer and his misfortune with "The Goat"/ Alya in the free citys in SoC.

Game of Thrones is good, but I like Spartacus better. The next to last episode of the Spartacus franchise is this Friday night!

AGREED.

I've rewatched Blood and Sand, Gods of the Arena, and Vengeance in the last couple weeks, and I'm rewatching the episodes from this season now.

I even bought The Spartacus War by Barry Strauss and have been reading that on and off.

Har, I was disappointed in Tormud Giantsbane. No mention of his member size nor a single "Har!"

With Spartacus over, I'm counting on GOT to pick me up and keep me going.. Nothin' doin' yet.

Stick with it, the third book was the best in large part because so many big events DID happen.

I haveto agree, although I am stumped on how there is so much in book three, yet three weeks in and so little has happened. I also noticed how they have changed Theons story somewhat...hmm shouldpick up nex week. I caucht the preview that shows Dany slave shopping..he he he

I'm disappointed by no Strong Belwas or Brave Companions (as a group). I think those are two of the most colorful elements of the books, and neither are in it.

Last night was a good episode, though. Fewer scenes of two people talking.

I agree with those that think the Red Wedding will be the season finale--and I bet they DO stick with the book there in terms of results, even if they stray a little bit in terms of how they get there... like with Jaime last night.

Ed O.

I've read speculation that Robb's wife will actually turn out to be Tywin's informant. And Cait will kill her instead of a Frey.

hmm I had not thought about that. I believe an interesting sub plot line is what Cat is now

I've read multiple times that the show doesn't plan on following the books too closely. But, of course, it'll pick up.

Gam of Thrones kind of isn't my thing, but I'll keep watching, and maybe one day I'll pick the book off my shelf and read it. I just have too many other books I want to read more waiting for me.

I have read all five of the books, the first two seasons read almost like a script..this third season may very well be what you have read in regards to deviating from the books..

Its straying more and more but considering the incredible detail and massive number of characters in the books, its doing a damn good job IMO. The major events that happened that I'm talking about from book 3 have to happen, there's no way to cut them out.

And the Theon thing is kind of annoying me because I haven't read the 5th book yet it seems like I'm seeing some spoilers already in season 3.

as far as Theon, the show took a diferent route to get to the same place..I was confused when he was set free, instead of being freed by the girl and hunted by the dogs..still, the show how evil the basterd bolton is, and once again, poor theon is SOL..so no spoilers for the frth or fifth book, and they are holding true to the main plot..
