Man... five more exhibition games with four on the road.. this preseason is way too long.

Hehe, I'm really glad this game didn't mean a damn thing ... but there were a couple of bright spots in Greg, LMA, Batum and .... ummm ... Rudy at times, Sergio wasn't completely horrible. But damn they've got some work to do.

IT sucks to see Rudy get hurt, but it was pretty awesome when the fans started chanting "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy!" Bet it makes him feel good to know hes loved

My issue with Bayless isn't with skills...it's attitude. It's the same issue I had with Jack last year...good player, good guy, not the mind of a PG. He doesn't look for cutters, he's not initiating offense, doesn't seem to have the thought process.

I hope I'm wrong.

I think your wrong.

Besides with Bayless you don't EXACTLY NEED him to play PG exclusively. Don't we want Roy with the ball in his hands at the end of the games? Bayless has the potential to be worlds better than Jack at scoring.

Sergio to me dominated Bayless as a PG for the second straight game. All the turnovers by our guards was just brutal to watch.

Our defense has issues.

Batum doesn't look like an NBDL player, or like a 19 year old. He was the biggest positive to me tonight.

The halftime duo is still the worst in the NBA. Seriously... they brought them back for another year?... Wow.

We need Roy.

Outlaw doesn't play well with the starters. Hopefully it's just conditioning but he didn't contribute anything it seemed other than shot attempts.

I guess we're going to keep losing one player every pre-season game. At this point I won't recognize anyone on the floor by mid November... wtf

Seconded ... his biggest issue was taking care of the ball and trying to dump it into Joel while he's on the move ... if that's LMA or Greg then maybe it works out a little better.

I'm glad they struggled a little bit; it's not the worst thing to step on your own dick once in awhile to get an idea of what you need to work on. Clearly this team leans pretty heavily on Brandon to not only calm them down on the court but to initiate the offense efficiently and mostly mistake free.

I've never been a fan of combo guards...they are confused whether they want to score or pass. CAn't wait for Blake to come back and get some stability to the point.

?? Isn't Brandon a "combo guard?" And isn't Rudy a "combo guard?"

No Roy, no Frye, no Blake, no Webs, Significant minutes for Jackson, Diogu and Batum. Outlaw couldn't throw it in the ocean. I'm not sweating this one.

I was thinking the same thing, but he actually managed 3 blocks, 4 boards, and a steal ... but his shot was waaaaay off tonight, which made his presence on the court feel like a waste of space ... he defintely still had a shitty game.

No. Both are shooting guards. I like a pure point guard. one who looks to rack up assists, not score the basketball. Not saying they shouldn't score...but its clear to me that Bayless is not a PG. He's an undersized shooting guard. I just can't see him running an offense....he is an offensive player, but a floor general? I don't know about that.

Do we not want the ball in Roy's hands? Roy is plenty capable of playing PG and letting Bayless play SG on offense.

Bayless is also perfectly capable of playing PG. Give him some slack, like I've said, PG's usually take some time.

Laker fan checking in.

Just wanted to know, since you guys can watch the game, and I can't....

How was Rudy? I mean judging by the box score he played amazingly. 5 more rebounds, 3 more assists, and 4 more steals and he couldve had a quadruple double...but how was his play?

Looks like Oden did well again. Wait til he is primed and ready for these games, he'll be even better.

Sure, but do you want Roy looking to set up other players or do you want him to be a focus of the offense? A point guard should look to lead the offense and get everyone involved. Bayless, to me, seems more suited as an offensive gun. It was obvious in the summer league and its starting to show as we watch him.

I see nothing wrong with Bayless. He did make some mistakes trying to feed Joel and that is just learning where and if you should pass it to Joel. I think it would have really helped if Roy was out there. I do think we missed Webster. It was only one game but he was cutting to the basket and looking for passes last night. I did think Batum looked pretty good tonight. I'm still not sure about how much time he will get but if Outlaw can't play with the starters any better then he did tonight we might have to give him more time. Outlaw also started slow last year before getting in to a rhythm. I think Oden played a little better tonight and can see him improving. He is really going to help us when he is in condition and playing 30+ minutes a game. The only thing I care about right now is I hope Rudy isn't injured that bad.

Bayless had nobody else on the summer league team, I don't think thats a very good sample of his skills.

Sweet, I can already feel Jack vs. Sergio: part II brewing. I can't wait :banghead:

I don't agree about Bayless. I think he is learning and actually made a few good pass seting up players. He made mistakes but that is what I was expecting trying to learn to be a PG. A good portion of the time tonight he was playing with Sergio and playing the SG. I think eventually he could be the perfect fit for us playing along side Roy. I love his attitude and think with Rudy and Bayless we have a couple guys that this team needs.

Rudy had flashes of brilliance, and is a pure dynamo on the court trying to make things happen, but he had kind of a sloppy night passing the ball, so it was a mixed bag.

As for Oden, he just needs to get his wind, but even without it, he put up some nice numbers in 19 minutes of action (I don't recall if he even took to the court after the first half?)

Sounded like Rudy was in good spirits afterward in the postgame on the radio...
But too bad we had to hear the daily dumb Katy Brown questions to Rudy, asking him if he was OK playing 30-plus mins. Ugh..

lol it's his 2nd game! Jack was doing that in his 3rd season. Bayless is a rookie. Give him some time, then you can bash him all you want.

Right now it just seems a little premature.

Bash Travis, it's like his 5th or 6th year and he sucks.
