GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ CLIPPERS - FEB. 12, 2014, WEDNESDAY, 7:30 PM, CSNNW

Portland looking to go from tied for #1 in the West to no HCA in the span of about 10 games. Yuck!

Thank God for the all-star break. I'm ready for some frivolity.

...as soon as coaches become responsible for turnovers? Shots made? Rebounds? Etc. Etc.

A coach should have considerable influence on shot selection though... Everyone seemingly has the green light to shoot from wherever they want, whenever they want on this team. This leads to undisciplined shots at bad times, like we saw from Nic tonight (and from Mo just about every night).

Some more terrible execution late. Ugh.

...except for the fact that Lillard had 6!

I'll take aggressive turnovers, or turnovers dribbling in traffic over oddly lost weak, lazy half assed passes.

You just know that last one was by design though. That's what gets me.

Our playmakers, Lillard, Batum, and Mo, have no playmaking talent, so they try to compensate by jacking up impossible shots.

Edit: They had 16 assists on 14 turnovers. The rest of our players has 10 assists on 2 turnovers.

He tried drawing a foul. Most brain dead decision ever. What in the blue hell was he thinking?

Fuckin stayed up past 1 am to watch these two heartbreaking losses

ugh

For only the 2nd time ALL SEASON, the Clippers came from behind to win after trailing at the end of the 3rd quarter.

If it had worked, he'd be called a genius

Jamal Crawford was a good two feet in front of him. If he had just raised up and shot it he might have actually had a clean look. Instead he decides to lean in for whatever fucked up reason.

Probably that he got closed out on and nobody was open for a pass. Probably would have been better to fade-away, but the result would have been the same. It was a terrible play for Stotts to call, given what we witnessed throughout the 4th quarter.

Is this a joke, NBA? WTF kind of schedule is this? Kudos to the team for fighting through the tough schedule but we could have easily gone 4-0

Rep'd

When does this become the coach's fault? The supposed "offensive genius".

Losses are always the coach's fault one way or another. Whether poor game plan, failure to motivate team, miscommunication, playing wrong matchups or rotation, overplaying players causing fatigue, underplaying players wasting their potential and rusting their skills...

It's a real challenge at any level and it's why coaches coach.

The blazers shot really well but didn't take care of the ball. Nic made some stupid cross-court passes that were picked off with ease.

Blake had his way with LMA but someone should've put him on his back! He was throwing his elbows around like Malone.

They had 9 more FTA on 7 fewer PFs, giving them 8 more points in a 5-point game. The difference was, if Griffin tries to score within 3 feet of you, you fouled him.

Meanwhile, Griffin throws an elbow into Leonard's face, draws blood, right in front of Salvatore and NO CALL.

The Blazers made some ridiculous shots tonight, the McCollum 6 point play was awesome! They just really folded, once again, in the final minutes of the game. Some really silly shots. And Batum....he really needs to cut back on those turnovers. The turnover differential is probably what cost us the game.

But man, everyone shot well, the bench contributed big, we probably would have blown most teams out with this effort. But alas...we're cursed with another close loss.

Just wait until March

Batum has at least 1 HIDEOUS turnover per game where it's WTF were you thinking with that pass. Lillard has been careless with the ball lately too. Batum and Lillard combined for 11 of 16 turnovers tonight. Not good when your best playmakers are not taking care of the ball.
