GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ KINGS - JANUARY 7TH, 2014, TUESDAY, 7:00 PM (PST), CSNNW

Dame was hot from the start tonight. I kept wondering why he was derring (err committing turnovers) earlier in the game when he could score on Thomas at will. Guess it all comes with player development.

Give the guy another season and he's gonna take over the game and put it away early. Looks like our guys got some confidence back in the fourth anyway. No moral wins, but at least OKC losing again makes this loss easier to swallow.

And as far as SAC, man that is some seriously flawed rat ball team. No cohesion whatsoever-- just guys taking turns going one on one. Cousins at least warrants his touches, but Gay certainly doesn't. Tonight was a definite anomaly. They're going nowhere fast

That should have made them easier to defend, no?

It does stink they have lost to Philly and Sac back to back when they have such a brutal road trip on the horizon. Hopefully they can figure it out soon.

It's not as simple as just learning a hard lesson or we would have bounced back from those recent losses with some pride. This team as a whole is just awful on defense at a very fundamental level. Hoping they can get it together midway thought the season is a stretch. Some of these guys that have been here a long time, have some bad habits that can't be easily unlearned.

Without a meaningful trade(s), we are in for a lot more of these nights watching the Blazers constantly on their heels on defense.

Oh it's officially over now? Thanks for the Memo

I was talking about being the top seed. This team headed to the 7th or 8th spot and will probably end the season fighting for a playoff spot. It was a hot ride, and now our guys are cooling off and playing like they've played most of their careers here, when we've been a mediocre team. Guys like Wes couldn't shoot that well forever....

TRob had 3 fouls in 4 minutes. No reason to save them I guess. :)

This season made me think that Batum and Wes could finally be in a legit starting lineup. Nope. Both are way to streaky at very important positions that we need consistant production from.

Deng would have been a perfect fit here. I'd like to see the Blazers make move for DeRozon toward the deadline.

This is what happens when my positive support isn't here to counter the litany of "realist" fans that have been begging for the Blazers to fail, and while those fans deserved this loss, it still stinks. :(

That is some weird talk!

I detest Mo's game as much as the next guy, but CJ has not even come close to the equivalent of a preseason in terms of preparation. Let him get a few more reps in practice before throwing him into the rotation. You don't want him getting injured again while shaking off the rust.

Anyone know if Nic made the 'decision' to play tonight.

Kidding. Don't get your panties in a bunch!

5 assists and 11 board says he was in it as deep as any team mate.
But what the hell didn't happen?

I don't remember anyone begging for the Blazers to lose. Link? Possibly the reality is the defense has been poor all season as has the bench. When the Blazers were shooting lights out from '3' it covered up those deficiencies. When they don't shoot as well, they lose more often. That isn't a litany begging for a loss but pretty simple math.

That is all.

For some reason, I'm not upset. A lull was inevitable but if we win tomorrow, we're .750. I'll take that.

Go Blazers

That is all.

I had complete faith they would win these last two games and am on record as saying so on the podcast. What is disturbing is their defense and lack of bench production. That isn't a knee jerk reaction as it has been that way since the beginning. It's just now that Wes isn't shooting over 50% from '3' (which any reasonable person knew wouldn't be continued) and Batum's average as fallen as well that they just don't have the horsepower to cover up that defense or hole that is the bench.

As the team average from '3' falls, it means just one or two misses more from the arc but two more makes means wins in both of their last two games. As a team they are still just a hair under 40% but that has started to come down and the result is fairly predictable since their offense relies so much on the outside shot.
