GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ KINGS - JANUARY 7TH, 2014, TUESDAY, 7:00 PM (PST), CSNNW

On the bright side Lillard his best to start to lock up the All Star selection. I remember the 24 point quarter by Martel but this was somehow different.

Martell left some shots out there in that run, but he was also being fed by teammates and it was the 2nd quarter (iirc) so it wasn't like it was a do-or-die situation.

Dame went into a "Eff you guys, I'm taking us home" and almost pulled it off. More impressive, in my book, then 'Tell's. (And I'm probably the biggest Webster homer on here)

To me, Dame is the most impressive scorer we have on our team. He can rack up the points quickly with his deadly 3-pt range accuracy.

I'm tired of SlyPokerDog's high and mighty Bullshit.

I agree. He's the forums...

The 3rd quarter was bad. Someone used Sacramento city tap water in the visitor's locker room water cooler. New streak starts tonight.

I had complete faith they would win these last two games and am on record as saying so on the podcast. What is disturbing is their defense and lack of bench production. That isn't a knee jerk reaction as it has been that way since the beginning. It's just now that Wes isn't shooting over 50% from '3' (which any reasonable person knew wouldn't be continued) and Batum's average as fallen as well that they just don't have the horsepower to cover up that defense or hole that is the bench.

As the team average from '3' falls, it means just one or two misses more from the arc but two more makes means wins in both of their last two games. As a team they are still just a hair under 40% but that has started to come down and the result is fairly predictable since their offense relies so much on the outside shot.

:matrix:

So does that mean the platitudes of impending doom you and other vomit on the game thread after a loss are purposefully hyperbolic? Or do you really believe that "coming back to earth" accurately describes losing 4 of 8 games by a combined total of 9 points - and if so, what celestial body do the Spurs, Pacers, Heat, and Thunder reside on?

When the Blazers make shots, they win. When they don't, they lose. Is the bench better than last season? Is the defense better than last season? Are the Blazer a better team than last season?

What planet was Portland on last season?

How many gears does Damian Lillard have? We lost last night but the taste in my mouth is more about what we found out about Lillard than a January road loss.
