GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ KINGS - OCTOBER 31ST, 2014; FRIDAY, 7 PM (PST), CSNNW

Yes they did but they shouldn't have been down to a 1-man team for 3 quarters in the first place. That effort was continued for the night. Portland has really only played one good quarter out of 8 so far in two games.

We've played a lot of basically EVEN quarters and then one DOMINANT quarter. Only one awful quarter and that was tonight's 4th. It's a tough league. We are fine. We have won 14 straight home openers which is an NBA record. We have a lot of home games coming up. Our team is healthy. Lots to be excited about.

So is CJ a bust? I don't get why everyone was praising this dude, he looks terrible.

The turnover/clear path from Batum is what lost the game.

That alone turned into a 9-0 run.

So, we've played one good quarter so far this season and it's not like our opponents were elite either. We just look super tentative right now and our shot selection (in stretches) is suspect. When the outside shot isn't falling, for the love of God, attack the basket and get to the foul line!

I thought a key moment in this game occurred was the 2nd quarter when Aldridge received over a six minute rest. He had it stuck on automatic early on and I think Stotts rested him a tad too long. When your superstar is locked and loaded, you ride that gravy train.

Also, we need to quit fucking overlooking teams! Nico was lazy as hell with the ball tonight. Our bigs were completely outworked on the glass (Dame led the team with seven boards). And I didn't see a ton of intensity throughout the game. The West is a fucking buzzsaw and we need to be dialed in for 82 games if we want a good playoff seed, not to mention taking advantage of OKC while Russ and KD are sidelined. Overall, it was an extremely frustrating game. The kind you would expect during the dog days of January, not in late October.

Very frustrating. Didn't look like they were up for either game.

By the way, for the second straight game, Kaman, Blake, Wright, and McCollum had the best plus/minus. Which is odd cuz they hardly scored.

I guess Will played too well in the playoffs. He would have done better to lose control of the ball almost every time he touches it like CJ apparently..lol.

Best thing I got from this game was courtesy of jlprk...my new favorite word..chickenshoot

To be fair, CJ didn't turn the ball over.

I sincerely think that if we lost Batum tomorrow, Wright would contribute just as much and we wouldn't miss him. It might even be a positive, because Lillard would then handle the ball more and shoot more.

I've never seen why some fans loved Batum so much. Who wants a ball handler that commits as many stupid turnovers as Batum. He can get assists, yes, but too often he has just as many turnovers. I always cringe when I see him trying to run the offense.

I have been a Stotts fan since he first arrived but his rotations and game plan sucked tonight..he's got to take some blame for this one

True....the one time he lost it again tonight right out of his hands a teammate happened to dig out the loose ball so there was no TO. He had 3 of the same types of plays against OKC where he just lost it right out of his hands.

CJ is not a bust. Get outta here with that nonsense. He's clearly pressing as he knows his spot in the rotation is in no way shape or form guaranteed. He just needs to let the game come to him.

I think Portland could use a little t-rob energy. So what if he's not a "saavy vet" the dude has balls and gets rebounds. Look at all the offensive rebounds we gave up tonight, that was huge.

CJ doesn't look like what we drafted him for - a scorer.

He shows flashes though. But we have to wait every 5-10 games to see signs of life from him.

Batum was horrific! He still passes up open shots to inflate his assist numbers but when he does shoot it's not even close.

He sucks.

Not a bust at all. Just curious why Will who played quite well in the playoffs is sitting while CJ has done nothing to show that type of production or performance is playing.

Does it seem to anyone else that the absence of Will, TRob and Claver smells like a move is in the works?

Well so far he sure has looked like one, so maybe it's fair to call him one until (if/when) he proves otherwise.

TRob might have helped the Blazers not get killed on the Offensive Boards.

Agreed, especially considering we couldn't grab a defensive rebound to save our lives tonight.

CJ out-performed him in the preseason when the spot was up for grabs.

Playing NBA defense or trying to seems to water down CJs offensive instincts

I always see more turnovers from him than the boxscore says. Supposedly 3 tonight. They're always careless turnovers, from lazy overdribbling or lazy passes. He thinks he's a genius multitasker, but he's just distracted and diverted.

I was reluctant to keep him when the Wolves tried to blow down our house. I said, give them a little piggy ballhog. Last season, I said that Batum was just a taller Mo, but not as good of a shooter or playmaker.

I don't think he is. This may not be the right situation for him. But the dude has skills.

Portland coaches have to get him going. And if they can't, they need to move him and get something that can help the bench in return while the perceived value is still there.
