:reading:BLAZERS' GAME NOTES
• Friday will mark the third and final regular season meetings between Portland and Dallas.
• The Mavericks won the first matchup of the season with the Trail Blazers on Dec. 7, 108-106, in Portland, while the Trail Blazers defeated the Mavericks 127-111 on Jan. 18 in Dallas.

• Portland’s 16 point win on Jan. 18 marked its largest in Dallas since a 124-96 victory on March 10, 1993.

• The Trail Blazers scored 71 points in the first half of the Jan. 18 matchup in Dallas, the team’s third time scoring at least 70 points in the first half this season.

• LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez have both recorded double-doubles in each of the two matchups against the Mavericks this season. Damian Lillard recorded a double-double in the second matchup on Jan. 18.

• In the Dec. 7 contest, Damian Lillard scored a team-high 32 points and dished out five assists.

• Twelve of the past 14 meetings between the two teams have been decided by single digits.

• Portland lost consecutive season series (2011-12 and 2012-13) against the Mavericks for the first time since losing four straight season series from 2003-04 to 2006-07.

• Trail Blazers Head Coach Terry Stotts helped lead Dallas to the 2011 NBA Championship in one of his four years as a Mavericks assistant coach from 2008-12.

• Dallas assistant coach Kaleb Canales served as an assistant coach with the Trail Blazers from 2009 until the end of the 2012-13 season, including interim head coach for the final 23 games of the 2011-12 season.

• Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle served as an assistant coach for the Trail Blazers from 1994-97.

• Wesley Matthews and Maverick’s forward Jae Crowder both played collegiately at Marquette University.

• HEAD-TO-HEAD HISTORY:
ALL TIME: Trail Blazers lead, 75-63
IN PORTLAND: Trail Blazers lead, 47-21
IN DALLAS: Mavericks lead, 42-28

GO BLAZERS!

These next two games will determine our course for the rest of the season. Win both and we're third seed and still in race for a possible top 2 seed. Lose both and we're in a battle for 5th/6th/7th. Split and we're just in the middle hoping for HCA against Clippers.

I think our starters+bench+injured players you mentioned is our ideal roster for the playoffs, with Crabbe and Watson on the IR.

Well considering how the Mav's played against Denver the other day, I don't see a problem w/us winning this one....

I think the Mavs will have a strong bounce back game. I still think we win, but it will be a close game.

Unless Aldridge finds his form again, it's going to be a long road trip.

that's a lot of assuming with plenty of games left.

Oh so there was an update huh? RT @BlazerFreeman: Thomas Robinson will be active when the #Blazers visit the Mavericks tonight.

Yup, and we destroyed em last time in DAL. Should be a win, but I said that about the LA game too. sigh

LMA NEEDS to bring it today for sure. That and I hope dame just goes off for like 35. Hell, lets try 62. :)

Hope we don't play TROB until we HAVE to.

That game still makes me uneasy when I think about it. (The dallas one... although the LA game just pisses me off, considering what they did in NOLA and against the Clippers). I know our starters whooped them... but almost losing that big lead sucked...

Go figure......... KS assuming and making large assumptions.

Losing the season series to Houston would be a big deal. Would make it very hard for us to get the third seed with the way they are playing.

You think we can lose ground to Houston and lose the season series and still get the third seed? With the schedule we have?

Also, after the Houston game, there are only 19 games left.

Major road trips, losing season series, Houston playing well= no 3rd seed unless we win these next two games.

Fire.....plague.....brimstone........the END is near!

Why do we have to expect to do poorly? None of these games are final, so we don't know shit. Why does everything have to be final with you?

We were supposed to beat LA... Miami was supposed to beat Utah... Indiana was not supposed to lose 2 straight to obviously inferior competition, but the way you think things are supposed to go, none of that was supposed to happen "with the schedule they have".

Just let the games play all the way out. Damn. This is why talking about standings is so stupid until they actually matter. Not in December. Not in January. But late march/Early april. Until then, there's too many variables at play to talk about seeding. Save that stuff for ESPN.

Didn't say the end is near for everything. Just the 3 seed.

Season series matters.

Do the standings for the Bucks not matter til April? They still have a chance?

This game is REALLY important. It will set the tone for the entire trip.

For us, all these games against above .500 opponents are chances for us to gear up for playoff basketball.

You have to admit chances of 3 seed go down if we lose both games.

Absolutely. Huge game.

Are the Bucks in the playoffs? Pretty sure all the teams I mentioned were in the playoff hunt. Don't go trying to change it now, stick to what you were trying. Unless that failed already, which it's looking like by your struggle to find loopholes that aren't there. :)
