I already said this about Krstic and three years later I was proven right I will say the same thing about Yi. 7 foot players who are shooters and can not play in the paint, who can not rebound or defend will not last long in this league.

Yi was drafted at number 6 but a player like Milsap will take his ass to school and will end up playing longer in the NBA and being more valued than Yi ever will.

The same way Krstic was getting bullied by players half his height is the same future Yi has in stored for him.

I remember the post I had about Yi when I first heard this unproven player refused to play with the Bucks. How dare he? Now remember that. Because years from now when he is back over seas he will remember there was a time where he thought he was good enough to tell a NBA team no.

As for the Nets. They just peaked early that's all they will likely not make the playoffs and Devin Harris has to hope he can stay playing at this level because he will miss the all star game. People are noticing Mo Williams and Rondo.

Yi played like shit today my friend. In the first quarter, he was the only one struggling. And then he just got abused all game long by Okur and Milsap.
He got all of his points in garbage time, matter fact the Nets started fucking up whenever they had Yi shoot the ball like 4 times in a row in the 2nd quarter because he missed them all!
Watching the game and looking at the stats is VERY different ;)

PS- What's shift? Shift=shit? shift= Stiff?
Also, we DID NOT draft Yi at #6.

I say it again, yi is not a shooter, it's your coach train him to a shooter, i don't know why? he way more effective in the pain than in outside when he play china nation team's game as a center when yao absence, when he play the 4, his game is awful, he just can't dribble the ball well .

i dont kno whats goin on with the nets :( havent been watchin cuz of finals and my wife bout to give birth... but they are upsetting me

ebc, there's a huge difference of playing center in China than the NBA. Yi wouldn't last as a center for 2 minutes.

Yi is a shooter in the NBA. China's League=Local New Jersey YMCA......he was either playing against a 5'5" Center or a chair. Yi can't even play in the paint @ PF against softer and SHORTER players, let alone legit NBA Centers like Dwight Howard or Andrew Bynum for that matter. He's just too weak and soft....the whole reason he's in the NBA was because he was athletic and versatile for a big, not because he was a banger in the paint.

I WASTED an evening and a lot of moeny going to see this team.

the arena was empty and dead.

i noticed something about this team though. they have no enthusiasm anymore. the jazz players were standing everytime a good play was made or their players were coming off the floor. i look at the nets bench and everyone is in their own lil world. najera was the only one running to meet players as they came off. no clapping no cheering nothing. i think that trickles down from the coach's laid back persona. not good at all!!

yi and simmons are jokes. you tell me another 7ft in the league that misses a wide open put back dunk? he is disgusting. he did have 7rb though. anderson or swift should get that starting job. even boone! yi needs 20 min off the bench and thats it. he is a liability every nite.

simmons needs to just sit on the bench in dress clothes.

something isnt right with this team. we seem to play better when we are coming from behind.

totally agree with your points on yi.

7ft jumpshooters are a waste. no room for them in the nba. give me a banger in the paint anyday.

thats why dirk doesnt have that ring he had his eyes on. he didnt go in the paint and bang for it. until a7ft jumpshooter wins a ring i will stick by this theory.

No difference, if yi can't play PF well in china, he can't play PF well in NBA either, so he play center better in china, he would play center better in NBA.

22 point lead and the nets lose the game but FRANK "I f**k thorn" is safe!

THANK YOU!!!! that's the messed up B.S i have been seeing from Coach Frankl... TANK the FRANK! seriously how is he not fired? fails to have the team come out of halftime with any energy, goes with the wrong matchups constantly, says the same ol garbage pertaining to the same old flaws week and after week... but no he's "safe" bendejo....

on a side note, didn't see the game and glad i didnt...it's nice to blow double digit leads. Was Harris driving to hoop in this game? i notice he's been very flat in recent games...

The CBA and NBA are two different leagues. There is no Shaq, Dwight Howard, Bynum, etc. to deal with in the CBA.

Yi isn't a shooter in china, so he isn't a shooter in NBA either, Yi is Dirk Nowitzki killer, so he can guard all NBA PF, WZZ can guard YAO well, Yi's defense > WZZ, so i believe yi can guard yao well too, so yi can guard almost all NBA center. but yi's defense habit has somehow regress, when he guard his man he hardly jump, maybe his coach tell him "this trick" to avoid foul or something else, but i don't think so and it just doesn't work.

chinese basketball club full of 7 footers, so yi isn't against a 5'5" center. yi need to get tougher and stronger, this just he second year, everything still doesn't work out yet.

NO one can guard shaq Dwight Howard one on one, yi just doesn't strong enough, but i think he stronger than yao's rookie year. yi has better hand, he can grab the rebound firmlier than yao.

i don't remember who said that if Yi misses his first couple of jumpers he's done for the night, but this dude was 100% right. what a soft "all-star"...
That was me! And yes, it was true again last night. If Simmons and Yi gave them anything last night, they would've won. We say that a lot, don't we?

Exactly. You and me are on the same page. Dirk was out muscle in the paint in game 6 finals by Haslem. Think about it and in the fourth qt wit6h 8 mins left the mavs had already put the Heat in the penalty. Yet Dirk scary self still taking jumpers.

7ft jump shooters are waste.

Yi to the D-League? LOL.
I say give Anderson a shot at being the starter(Yi has had his shot).. maybe he'll surprise us like Lopez did when he was inserted into the starting line-up.
You guys will laugh, but I'd honestly start Stromile. He's the closest thing they have to a true power forward. He knows what he can and can't do. He'll block some shots, finish down low and rebound.

And I'd play Yi more at the 3. He can't guard anyone anyway, so might as well give him a mismatch on offense, since that's all he knows.

Unless it's Dirk, having a power forward stand out and shoot 3s is pointless. Look at the Pistons, when Rasheed goes down low, they play better, when he settles and shoots 3s, they lose. A power forward has to provide a presence down low and help out the center down there.

But shooting was his main strength in the eyes of EVERY SINGLE SCOUT! Yi is a finesse big man, so his strength isn't banging and he should be able to out-quick other bigs. LMAO There is a reason Wang Zhi Zhi isn't int he league, he's a 7'3" shooter, otherwise further proof 7-foot jumper shooters are worthless considering he's out of the league.. Zhi-Zhi only gives up 3 inches to Yao, and Yao uses his size to score, so I don't see how this comparison does anything comparing Yi guarding guys like Dwight or Amare that use speed and power rather than all size. No one in China is on the same level and the players aren't the same caliber as the NBA. That's why there are only 3 chinese players in the league. Everyone wants to play in the NBA because it's the premier league in the world, so all of this stuff he did in China is the equivalent to what Brook Lopez did in college (where he dominated) or what guys do in Europe...it all means nothing now. There are only so many tricks a coach can teach to play defense, sometimes it's just about the effort and the players ability to pick up on stuff.
