Garnett has turned into an asshole!

Garnett is a prick and I don't respect him at all. I think it was on the other board I started a thread about how much I hate him and we had people coming from the Boston board trying to defend him. He is just a prick... and just weird.

I am growing tired of guys like Garnett acting like idiots trying to intimidate the smallest guys on the court. Tonight it was Calderon.

Turned into? He's always been the same. He's punched at least 2 teammates that I can recall. He's gotten into plenty of shouting matches with guys before.

Intense. Talented. Asshole.

And who's to say it wasn't Calderon that started it anyway?

Didn't Ray Allen have a problem with Garnett, something to do with his cursing in practice?

Love what I saw out of Calderon as a response.

How is Madsen of "dubious character"? Dubious talent sure, but I've never heard anything negative regarding him personally. Am I missing something?

I didn't mind KG too much when he was in Minny, but since he's been in Boston, I've come to realize he is an asshole. Now that he's on a winning team and the defending champ, he can all act like he's big time to everyone else.
Respect your opponent dumbass.

How did that nonsense not earn him a T? The crap that he is allowed to get away with is ridiculous. Dude's a punk. Learn to win with class if you want some respect.

I don't this is a new development. I remember reading an article last year detailing how Garnett essentially trashtalked the Blazers into submission. The writer was probably exaggerating to some degree, but that definitely seemed to be what he was trying to do last night.

Despite being a fan of the team he was doing it to, I have no problem with it. He's not playing a physically dirty game, he's trying to psychologically mess with his opponents. If that works, then its fair game. This was in the midst of a very close, intense game, and KG had the right to try to find any edge he could. NBA players are grown men and don't need to be babied by overprotective officiating. Calderon demonstrated that by taking KG's trashtalk and coming right back with his own.

He's always been an asshole...talented, no doubt, but an asshole none the less.

Remember a couple of years back, before a game in PDX, when he decided to intimate Webster by throwing a ball at his head, for no apparent reason. Webs was 19 at the time, KG must have been pushing 30. How often do you see him intimidating Karl Malone, D. Howard, or any of the other bigs?

He's a punk, no respect required.

You guys probably don't realize it, but most of you hate the jersey, not the player.

Don't think so. He was an asshole with the T-pups before he was an asshole with the Celts.

If Mutumbo was getting T's for wagging his finger in the general direction of a player after a block, then Garnet should get a T for shoving his wagging finger in Calderon's face.

You guys probably don't realize it, but most of you hate the jersey, not the player.

No, I hate the player. The Celtics have been really good, and really shitty during my lifetime. Portland has never faced them in a series, so the green jerseys, Red, Bird, the parque floor, and whatever else don't bug me at all. Kevin Garnett is a dick, and he should be fined for taunting period.

I never heard anybody say anything like this about KG until last year.

He really didn't get all that much media coverage until he left the black hole that is Minnesota. Everybody knows who KG is and how good he is, but he wasn't a consistent fixture on national television until last season.

I don't think anyone hates Ray Ray. That dude knows how to carry himself the right way.

Or Pierce. I have all the respect in the world to both of these guys. KG is an ass, however.

KG is just so intense that he does seem like an ass some of the time. You really can't appreciate him until you've watched him play up close in person.

A lot of people will disagree with you on that, especially Laker fans.

I agree that Ray is hard to hate, but he definitely has more haters now than he did 2 years ago. It's like Tom Brady, I don't think there's a real reason to hate the guy, but there's a thread in the NFL forum where 75% of the people list him as one of their most hated players.

We have to respect him because he won a ring? Heck No! Guy is an ass, period.

If he were a serial rapist who walked, would you say "gotta respect his skills, and he got away with it too, awesome dude!"?

Of course not. Having skills, even other-worldly-like skills, does not make up for being a complete jerk.

It is silly to debate Garnett's importance to winning a championship, it is immaterial. He is not a good person.
That's what the original poster said, and he's right.

I don't think you have the right to say he's not a good person if you don't know the guy personally. The way he plays and acts on the court is what he does to win games. Do you know the guy off the court?

I hated him before he was traded to the Celts... and I live in Minneapolis.

A few months ago an article was posted by a reporter that had to go through hell to get to an interview with KG. He had to go to a certain parking lot, and go to some unmarked white van that led him to the secret location of KG. KG is a douche bag.

KG is the kind of guy you love as a team-mate, and hate as an opponent. I seriously doubt he cares what anyone outside of Boston thinks of him - and I really don't see anything wrong with that.

No doubt part of the distaste for him comes because he is a champion now. Right or wrong... it happens.

So, I have to "get to know" a serial killer before I "have the right" to say he's a bad person? :tsktsk::tsktsk:

He's an ass on the court. Maybe he's wonderful off the court, but really, who cares. Maybe the serial rapist is only
a serial rapist when he around women. Outside of that he's a great drinking buddy. :tsktsk::tsktsk:

So many things wrong in your post. You can't even spell "won."
WHOOOOPS! spelled a word wrong, yet you stilll knew what i meant... hmmm what a crime...

either way, my point and stance is much more in the right than yours, "hype-master"

Not me personally, but I do know that the Laker fans do hate Ray from the little competitions that he and Kobe would go through. I personally don't mind the dude, I don't really hate many players in the league, but that might be a reason :dunno:. Just trying to provide a reason.

If KG was playing for Portland each and every one of you would protect him, if I or someone else would talk trash like this.

Nuff said. ;)
