Payton wants another year, Riley says not with Heat. Payton and Kidd formed a nice defensive back court duel for USA back in the 2000 Olympics. At 15 a night at either spot would be nice for Kidd and helps Williams along too. Kidd can seal the deal on this one if Thorn wants Payton. </p>

If people were worried about Marcus' confidence last year, imagine how depressed he'd get if Gary Payton took his minutes. We need this guy to build confidence. Last year we threw him in the deep end and hoped he would swim. It makes little sense to pull him now.

I wouldn't mind GP in Boston, and we could get him for the veteran's minimum. He'd be able to play 10-11 minutes per game off the bench and be a bit of a mentor to Rondo. Not to mention, Payton is my favorite point guard of all-time.</p>

The Nets need to continue to develop Marcus Williams, it was mentioned before that adding Payton would take away Williams minutes and could slow down his developement. I think that Payton going to Boston is the ideal choice for both parties rather than New Jersey.
