Well if so much of our economy wasn't petrol based, we wouldn't be in this conundrum. But it is, and until we change that, it's going to be like thate every time gas prices fluctate. There have actually been some proposals to have a floating price on gasoline, where it is a flat price that is actually higher than normal, in order to take the fluctuations out of the market. It is those price fluctuations which screw everything up, including consumer confidence.
