If you're a 360 owner and haven't played this yet, do yourself a favor and freaking play it. It's probably the best game on the 360 right now, with the only two games taht come close to it are the new Spliter Cell and Oblivion. The game is absolutely amazing in every aspect. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is great, and multiplayer, at least co-op, rocks.

This is the main reason why I want a 360 for Christmas..it's just flat out amazing, it's on Halo status already.

im a 360 owner i havent played it lol, id get it but i dont play 360 much anymore and my report cards about to come nd i know i didnt do to well, i mite get it around christmas

Not a 360 seller when the main game is around 6 hours long. Not worth the money.

On the Hardcore difficulty level, it's insanely difficult. On Insane, it's supposed to be the equivalent to Legendary on Halo 2, only harder. Beyond that, the cooperative mode is flat out amazing. And from my understanding, the game is supposed to have great multiplayer on and offline. It's definitely a system seller. Oh, and that 6 hours you speak of is probably total gametime. That's not including the amount of times you'll die and go back to checkpoints. Or, as stated earlier, it's on the easiest difficulty.

Depends how many people go back and play the game knowing what iwll happen.

Regardless Resistence Fall of Man is longer, just as good and has a 40 player online component.

And good luck getting a PS3 to play Resistance. A 360 is going to be MUCH more available and MUCH less expensive. The only way you'll likely land a PS3 before next year is if you're camping outside of some place or if you're willing to shell out a few grand on one off of eBay.

Availability of a console is beside the point.

I have no doubt Gears of War is a great game. I just wouldn't buy a 360 just to play it.

Not to say I would buy a PS3 because of Resistance - Fall of Man. I just think the both compliment their system well.

On a PS3 note, I got the chance to play one today, and played NBA 07. I must say, the graphics were pretty solid, as was the gameplay. However, the system crapped out after 20 minutes. According to the people at Best Buy, it's been doing that consistently as well. So, just a thought to those of you thinking of buying one, it freezes, a lot. My advice, wait til next year before you invest your $600.

That is common sense for all consoles I reckon. I got my Ps2 maybe 1 or 2 years after it was released never had a problem with it.

Yea, typically if you get the first generation of a console, it'll have issues. However, I got a 360 last January, just a month and a half after release, and never had freezing issues. And anything by Nintendo is going to be quality, I've never had an issue with a system from them.

Gears of War rocks. I started playing it last night, it's a sweet game, and different enough from Halo (3rd person) so it doesn't feel like Halo. I also picked up Tony Hawk's Project 8 the same day, and I've been playing around with that game, espeically the new "Nail The Trick" feature.

I had been reading some people had freezing problems with the 360 when trying to update it via online.
The freezing was meant to do it to 360s that had been modded (I wonder how my mate is doing with it.

GoW miltiplayer is amazing. I played a game last week with 8 people in one room. It was insanely sweet. easily the game of the year so far.

for 360

GOTY will be The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess on the Wii. I have yet to get to play it, not because we don't have it, but because my brother is in the process of playing it. However, everything I've read points to it being the GOTY. It sounds amazing in every aspect. I can't wait to get the chance to play the game I've been waiting well over a year to play now.

whats been better for any system?

Random question, but what's the name of the song and who is it by for the Gears of War commercial for PS3?

Yeea yo, I had that same question. The one where he rolls into a dark room and there's this big spider monster in there.

You know, while on the subject, I was reading the review of Zelda and I really think it maybe a product of hype.

From the IGN.com review of it, it got major points for Lasting Appeal and Gameplay. Everything else was pretty moderate in ratings.

Anyway, I haven't played the game so I don't know but it got me thinking, has a game ever been so hyped up yet disappointed?
Gears of War was hyped, got a good rating.
Halo 2 same
Zelda
there are heaps but I can't think of a majorly hyped up game that has not gotten a good review.

Never mind, found it:

Mad World - Gary Jules

Thanks, Chutney.

This is the type of song they would play on The O.C.

I got a chance to play it for a good couple of hours today before work and I was impressed to say the least. While the graphics would look great for a 'Cube, it could be better on the Wii. The textures do have a little blur to them, but that's the only real gripe there. The gameplay shines though, beyond even what I was expecting. The Wii-mote mechanics work great. Shooting the slingshot is very intuitive, as is slashing the sword. The mechanics work great, and all the reviews are right, once you play this way, you can never imagine going back to button pushing and joystick aiming in a Zelda game. Everything about this game rocks so far. Beyond what I've played, it sounds great. It's supposed to be a deep game and the storyline is apparently more than an afterthought as well. I feel it will be the game of the year, but I can't say that quite yet, not until I get into it further. But, as it stands, it's an amazing game so far, and it's only going to get better in all likelyhood.

Fable? That was supposed to be the "Best RPG Ever," but it wasn't even close.

Fable also had a ton of stuff taken out of it that was supposed to be in it until game creater Peter Molyneaux decided against it. Fable was supposed to be a huge game that would last at least 20+ hours for non completionists. It ended up being a game you could sit down and beat in a weekend if you just went straight through and didn't explore, and even then, it was still a feasible accomplishment.

Yep. Didn't say it was a bad game (I enjoyed it), but it was clearly a victim of Molyneux's hype and I thought it fit I-Miss-MJ's requirements.

Killzone for PS2 was hyped up beyond belief for the PS2 as the future "Halo killer" but it ended up sucking ass. brute Force for Xbox was also really hyped up but sucked.
